Zane Burk is a recent graduate of the University of Mary Washington. He has amassed a TikTok following of nearly 50,000 people, and is beginning a Disney College Program next month. Burk loves basketball, spirituality and philosophy, and is always looking for ways to live better.

Nolan works as a wildland firefighter in the summers for the state of Montana. He graduated from George Mason University with a history degree but took his life out west following his graduation to live in the mountains. He just received his EMT license and has enjoyed writing poetry in his off seasons in hope for publishing his work. He is passionate about protecting the west and giving back to the communities that he now calls home.

Tarkenton joined the Cavalier coaching staff in the fall of 2019 as a volunteer assistant coach.  

Prior to his return to Virginia, Tarkenton served at Colorado College where he coached the Big Cats for two years (2017-18). While at Colorado College, the Big Cats finished second and third at the women’s and men’s 2018 SCAC Championships, respectively. The team set four school records (one conference record), garnered 103 life-time best performances, five SCAC champions and had the program’s first winner of the Elite 19 award. In addition to his on deck duties, Tarkenton served as the recruiting coordinator, social media manager and meet coordinator.    

Tarkenton coached at the University of Georgia summer swim camps for the two years (2017-18). He also worked summer swim camps at the Air Force Academy and UVA.    

During his swimming career, Tarkenton earned three All-America honors at the University of Mary Washington. He finished fourth in the 100 butterfly and ninth in the 200 butterfly at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming Championships in Shenandoah, Texas, and eighth in the 100 fly at the 2016 Division III national meet. He also recorded 21 conference titles during his tenure at UMW, set three school and conference records, and was named the school’s Athlete of the Year in 2016 and 2017.   

While at UMW, the Richmond, Va., native served as a lead assistant swim coach at The Country Club of Virginia and Founders Bridge Country Club during his summers.   

Tarkenton, who received a bachelor’s degree in communication and digital studies from the University of Mary Washington, will also serve as an age group and senior coach for the Gators.

Mr Kolemann Lutz (Kole) is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and explorer with five years of experience in space technology, settlement, and exploration. Kole has dedicated his career to developing life to reach our full potential by enabling a permanent presence on the Moon, Mars in orbit, and Venus. Kolemann is the Cofounder at Mars University, Founder at Frontier Space, a space research organization and podcast listened to in 43+ countries, and the Founder at Biofrequency Analytics, a biotech SaaS company building the first frequency-based data refinery and blueprint of the human body to remotely monitor thousands of human biomarkers.  

A cancer immunologist by training, Dr. Christopher Nirschl received his PhD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Immunology in 2015, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in association with Harvard Medical School. He has been studying the interactions between cancer and the immune system for over a decade, and is also one of the inventors of the anti-TIGIT antibody ASP8374/PTZ-201 which is currently in clinical trials. Doctor Nirschl was a part of the 5 person Immunology team at Potenza Therapeutics, which was acquired by Astellas Pharma for over 100 million dollars in December 2019. Currently, Doctor Nirschl is an Immunologist at Werewolf Therapeutics in Massachusetts, where he lives with his wife and two children.   

Katie is a Cancer Biology PhD candidate at Stanford University where she studies tumor and immune cell dynamics during immunotherapy. Her recent work has applied single cell RNA and T cell receptor sequencing to identify to origin of immunotherapy-responsive T cells during checkpoint blockade therapy. Prior to graduate school, she studied telomere maintenance in osteosarcoma as a post-baccalaureate fellow at the National Cancer Institute.  

Tom is a 3rd year doctoral candidate in the immuno-oncology laboratories of Dr. Jelani Zarif Ph.D. and Dr. Andrew Pardoll M.D.,Ph.D., investigating the therapeutic benefit of targeting the PI3Kgamma signaling pathway in protumorigenic M2-tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) in the setting of prostate cancer. Previously he worked for 4 years in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Drake M.D.,Ph.D. investigating the of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) isolated from primary human tumor specimens.
