Welcome to the new season of The World According To Yoni! After an extended hiatus from the airwaves, Yoni returns just in time to share his thoughts on President Biden pulling out of the presidential race, as well as the "assassination" attempt on Donald Trump and lots more. We think you'll find his time off has not blunted Yoni's passion or thinking.
Yoni flies solo (meaning no guest) for this very personal show. The past month has been one that’s frightening and scary throughout the world. Between the events in Israel and Gaza, to the insanity going on in the United States and around the world, Yoni has a lot to get off his chest, which he does with brutal honesty. This is an almost completely political episode you won't want to miss.
After a somewhat lengthy absence (don’t ask why — you really don’t want to know), The World According to Yoni is back with friend of the show, Dwayne Epstein, author of the new Amazon Best-Seller, Killing Generals: The Making of The Dirty Dozen, a wonderful follow-up to his last book (and NY Times Best Seller), Lee Marvin: Point Blank. And during his absence from the airwaves, Yoni has not mellowed, as you'll note from his politically charged mini-rant at the end of the show.
After an absence of several months (watch or listen to the show to find out why), Yoni is finally back with a new show and a great guest, Dwayne Epstein, author of the NY Times Best-Seller, Lee Marvin: Point Blank, a wonderful biography of the late actor. And, naturally, Yoni has a few things to say regarding the current state of American politics. This episode runs a tad longer than most, so you’ll need to leave yourself a little time more time to listen than usual.
For this very special show, Yoni hosts his very first in-studio guest — actress, writer, producer, director, and last, but certainly not least, Yoni's wife, Tanya Marten. The topic is "Euphoric Tendencies," Tanya's Off Broadway hit comedy (which Yoni directed), soon to be a major motion picture. Tanya and Yoni's indie production company, Soular Films, is hosting a virtual, YouTube screening of the stage play on Saturday, January 29th at 9pm EST / 6pm PST, followed by a Q&A on Zoom, and you're all welcome to come share in the laughter.
For his first show of 2022, Yoni welcomes his guest, popular stand-up comic and actress, Suzanne Westenhoefer. Suzanne is the first openly lesbian comic to appear on American television, and the first to have her own HBO special. In addition to performing at clubs, festivals, and cruises around the world. She has also appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman, The Stephanie Miller Show, as well as having made numerous other television and film appearances. Yoni and Suzanne spend a lively and funny hour (plus), talking about the world of comedy, the recent deaths of comedic icons like Betty White, Bob Saget and Dwayne Hickman, and what life was like for Suzanne, growing up non-Amish, amongst the Pennsylvania Dutch. Naturally, they also get some political commentary in, but mostly, it's just fun and comedy.
We think the title pretty much says it all. Yoni really is pissed off! Why? American politics (as usual); his wife having a serious accident which didn't need to happen; an outrageous move by the German government toward the family of a holocaust survivor; the deaths of Stephen Sondheim and Mike Nesmith. Really? What more does one need? Again, a word of warning to the easily offended — yet again, this week's show once again brings out the New Yorker in Yoni, so be prepared for language that may offend the delicate sensibilities of certain members of the audience. Like we said — he's really pissed off!
As Yoni's health improves and he begins to return to his version of normality, this country seems to fall further into the abyss. This week, Yoni goes solo again, to delve into some of the issues he discussed last week, in more depth. He also attempts to maintain his sanity while discussing some of the events of the past week, most of which have all our heads spinning. Again, a word of warning to the easily offended — this week's show once again brings out the New Yorker in Yoni, so be prepared for language that may offend the delicate sensibilities of certain members of the audience (I would have called his language "salty" again, but so many people made fun of my use of the word, I thought I might try phrasing it differently).
After yet another prolonged absence due to Covid brain (trust us, you don't wanna know), Yoni is back with a vengeance. This week's show is all Yoni. After lying in bed for almost a month and a half, Yoni, who spent a good deal of his time watching the news, and listening to politically-oriented shows (like Stephanie Miller's), has a lot to say about what's happening in this country. While Yoni spends a lot of time talking politics, he's also talking about the social ramifications of the current political climate in this country. Yoni's passion and spirit makes this a particularly fascinating and gripping show. Word of warning to the easily offended — this week's show brings out the NYer in Yoni, so be prepared for Yoni at his saltiest.
After a prolonged absence, due to recent physical problems, Yoni is back with another amazing show and a terrific guest. What's it like to grow up backstage at The Carol Burnett Show? Well, we've heard from Carol's daughter, Jody Hamilton. Now it's Chris Korman's chance. In case anyone missed it, Chris is the son of comedy legend, Harvey Korman, and the author of the book, "OMG! It's Harvey Korman's Son!" More than a biography of his father, Chris's book is a love letter to his father, who encouraged and supported Chris, who was born with learning disabilities, putting his son's welfare over his own career (even so, Harvey seems to have done fairly well). It's a heart-warming story about the relationship between a father and his son, as told by Chris, a man who's not afraid to speak his mind.
