In the final days of World War II, army intelligence officer Lt. Kurt Klein is given orders to go check out an abandoned Czechoslovakian bicycle factory. There, he comes across a young Polish woman named Gerda Weissman. Her unimaginable physical decay and frailty reveal the consequences of her years spent in arguably the worst place the war has to offer… a German concentration camp. Little do these two unsuspecting souls know that this chance encounter in the middle of war-torn Europe will end up creating an over 50-year marriage, two children, eight grandchildren, an Academy Award, a human rights foundation, and one of the most unlikely, and moving love stories of all time.
