Today I'm giving a quick update about the podcast.
This week I sat down with worship pastor and CCM artist Andrew Kurtz. We talked about the why behind his music, using songs to heal, seeking discipleship and more! It was a really great conversation. Here are a few of my favorite thoughts:
1. I'm giving everything to the cause of Christ.
2. Please God first.
3. As leaders, our primary prayer should be for wisdom.

Today's episode is a little different from usual. There's no interview; instead, I'm reading a chapter from my first book Becoming a Worship Pastor. In this chapter I talk about discipleship, Paul's relationships with Timothy and Barnabas, and how we can shift our focus from tasks to people.

This week I sat down with worship leader and songwriter Nathan Shoemaker to discuss stretching yourself in terms of musical style. We talk about why it's important, how to try it and even who should try it!
Here are a few of my favorite thoughts from this episode:
1. Different churches call for different musical styles.
2. When it comes to identifying your strengths as a worship leader, ask your pastor, ask other musicians, get feedback. Don't assume you already know.
3. Find forgiving spaces to try new things: a small group, a mid-week service or a youth service.
