Convergence: Wonder Woman #2 (2015)

This Wonder Woman versus vampires situation keeps chugging along as Diana squares off against the fangin-and-bangin trio of Joker, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. It’ll probably get worse though because both Steve Trevor and Etta Candy are in a pretty dire situation. No one wins.

Highlights include:

• Etta Candy loves the Joker’s comedy
• Marc Maron rides a kangaroo
• Catwoman becomes a parade float
• Poison Ivy is the BACKROOMS monster

Convergence: Wonder Woman #1 (2015)

Spooky season has arrived so let’s see what’s what with this duo of books from DC’s Convergence event where versions of Gotham from different universes have to fight one another at the behest of some entity (and also Brainiac). This one is perfect for the season as Earth-One Wonder Woman squares off against an all-female doomsday cult and the Elseworlds Red Rain vampires!

Highlights include:

• Etta Candy joins a cult

• The difference between “battle axe” and “old bag”

Spawn #41 (1996) 

Continuing on with our mid-90s SPAWN coverage, we pick up with the Spawn man about to be dissected by the goatee-having villain Curse up his precariously balanced castle. Curse, you see, wants to be come “Satan Two” and believes he can use Spawn’s necroplasm to get there. Sure, why not.

Spawn #40 (1996)

 Hey check this out — we are covering a Spawn book (quite possibly) for the first time! It has been a big year of first for us over here at WCE. We’re jumping in here with Spawn being abducted and dissected by Curse, a tech savvy religious zealot. We also have Cy-Gor the cybernetic gorilla running rampant somewhere in upstate New York.

Highlights include:

• Christopher Meloni for the Fat Clown in the SPAWN reboot
• The Lurkers from PHANTASM set a booby trap
