A Biden-era policy established so-called “protected areas” – like schools, medical facilities, and places of worship – where immigration enforcement was restricted. That way, the guidelines stated, people would be able to access essential services without fear of deportation.

President Trump rolled back those guidelines last month as one of his first actions back in the Oval Office.

The voters who did turn out narrowed down the candidate pool for state superintendent and a handful of city council races.

April 1st is slated to have a bigger impact, with a state Supreme Court race and a constitutional amendment on the ballot.

Penner is a recent graduate from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She is an artist who earned her BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design.
