You’ve probably heard the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words.” So is a story! Today David Doerner, teaching pastor at Frontline Community Church in Grand Rapids joins Perry and Shawna to share four beautiful stories of what it looks like to make God famous by being a good neighbor.
First, being a good neighbor looks like sharing generously: David shares about the extravagant 4th of July party he just went to put on by his neighbor, including pulled pork, brisket, ribs and a fireworks show! All because of his neighbor’s passion to share Jesus’ love with his neighborhood.
Then it looks like praying boldy. David shares how his neighbor, a Vietnam vet was really hurting and angry this July 4th. With blaring music going on in this man’s backyard, David walked into his anger and hurt and God showed up when this man to pray with David!
Then it looks like speaking words of life. During the height of the Covid restrictions David was out for a walk with his son Judah and noticed his neighbor in tears. He listened to her fears and assured her that he and his family would be there for her. And that has opened more doors to show the love of Jesus to this neighbor.
And finally it looks like serving. David offered to mow the lawn of a single mom next door. At first she said “no.” Then she let him mow the front and finally she said, “just do the whole thing!” Don’t become weary in doing good for you WILL reap a harvest!
