- Creativity and control are like oil and water. You can try to make them go together, but they will separate themselves from one another. The artist in control will cease to be creative, while the artist in creativity will find themselves abandoning their control. It will go one way or the other. It is our natural instinct to seek control and to look for ways to attain it because doing so tends to keep us safe. To tap into our creativity and fully explore our artistic potential we need to deny this need and liberate ourselves from this containment. For our true forms of artistic expression to come out we must trust our creative instinct by providing it with the freedom to show itself to us.
