January 04, 2022 #201: New Year's Goals and Doing your Homework
Nick and Rei and back this week while Harv is out sick to talk about what’s going on with World of Warcraft. First, Rei talks about an internet outage in the Northeast that affected raid night last week. Then, she talks about having a friend who was staying with them and assigning him the task of finding people to PUG with. They also had struggles with people not being around for the holiday week, and PUG’s coming and leaving for certain bosses. Rei also mentions how some people were not able to beat certain bosses because they weren’t putting in the time other than raid night to make sure they were ready to raid and beat the bosses. They also talk about the Mage Tower and Nick says that when it comes back, it should come back for a month at a time just so people have time to build momentum when practicing.

Nick talks about his new years goals, including his goals for 2021 that he finished the Korthia campaign questlines. He mentions that his goals for 2022 include getting to renown 80 with Maldraxxus and finishing the covenant questlines. That leads to this week’s question of the week being What Are Your Goals for 2022 in World of Warcraft?

In the news, The Darkmoon Faire has been delayed by a week. Also, Mythic and Raidfinder testing for the Sepulcher of the First Ones begins this week. They also talk about the A Better ABK Strike Fund that was set up as a gofundme to support the striking ABK workers who are protesting the layoffs of 20 Raven QA workers.

Finally, they take a look back at episode #101 from October 2018.

December 21, 2021 #200: What Are We Even Talking About?
Nick, Rei, and Harv are joined by a returning Eric to talk about what’s been going on in the WoW community lately, and so much more. Eric talks about playing his warlock recently and Nick brings up the new Incubus model that has been added for warlock demons. They talk about how imps compare to Gremlins which leads to an off-topic discussion about Gremlins and then Keanu Reeves movies. Nick says that warlocks should be able to glyph to alternate looks for the pets without using a tame mechanic like hunters.

Rei talks about running mythic+ without knowing the mechanics. She also talks about running raids on alts. She also brings up the mage tower which no one has had time to play. Harv talks about raiding and also playing some Final Fantasy XIV which lets Nick talk about how awesome Wondrous Tails is but also talk about how WoW needs to get their schedule together as far as releasing regular content. He points out that Destiny has almost regular weekly content and there’s no excuse for WoW not to. They also discuss if the Mage tower is too difficult or just difficult enough.

Next, Nick brings up the WoW Community Council and how they were debating if too many black NPC’s were in Stormwind, which led to some council members being outed as racists and kicked off the council. They talk about the disappointment with Blizzard for not getting ahead of this problem as it should have been obvious.

December 08, 2021 #199: The Negativity Around Activision-Blizzard
Nick, Rei, and Harv are back to talk about what's been going on with Activision-Blizzard lately. Nick begins by complaining about Christie Golden getting dragged on reddit. Then, Rei talks about her experiences raiding with the other guild, and how they seem to be pulling away. She also talks about people struggling to get through phase one of a fight and getting no experience on phase three. She and Nick talk about people not doing enough outside of raid to gear up. She also talks about Eric raiding with the group again, now as a Warlock DPS instead of tanking. Also, her black dragonscale backpack has been delayed.

Harv talks about buying games off steam and being too busy at work to play much WoW. He also mentions how people that he knows outside the game are asking him about what is going on with Activision-Blizzard.

Nick goes on a rant about how he wants to defend Activision-Blizzard usually but even he is openly against what they are doing. He talks about the recent layoffs at Raven and also how BlizzJess quit Blizzard. He talks about how the company has been completely mishandling the situation, making it worse, and running the community off. He mentions that he's been playing Korthia after a several month break and he's been enjoying it. He also talks about how Blizzard needs to get better about telling stories in the age of datamining and how the slow and protacted telling of the story of Shadowlands has hurt the expansion.

Nick, Rei, and Harv are back to talk about World of Warcraft and Activision-Blizzard this week! First, Rei talks about raiding with the other guild and how they and Order of Corrupted Souls are getting along. They are currently working on defeating Sylvanas. She talks about the struggles as a healer when certain players die too much. There were some issues with identifying the raid markers and what order they were intended to represent. She also shares a rant about the rules for wearing shoes at her house.

Harv talks about how he ran some dungeons with the other group. This leads to a discussion about carrying alts and what level of gear is appropriate, as well as determining who can bring an alt and who needs to bring a main to carry. They also talk about gearing up low ilvl characters. Harv mentions that he has cleared Soulrender. Rei tells a story about how people thought she was mad because she accidentally cut a stream short.

In the news, Nick talks about the recent allegations of harassment against Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. He talks about how Bobby is at his most vulnerable right now, and yet still may be able to survive this controversy. He endorses the #firebobbykotick hashtag.

Also, Patch 9.2 was announced. The gang discusses some of the news about Zereth Mortis and the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid. They also talk about the Warlock tier set looking a bit racist from behind.

Finally, Harv and Nick talk about episode #98 which was about a certain person who raided with OoCS and has not returned.

Nick, Rei, and Harv are back to talk about all the news that they haven't talked about the last few weeks. First, Harv talks about raiding and getting up to Sylvanas. Nick talks about how he got a mount as a result of the new patch. Rei talks about her experience managing the guild as they are raiding with a new group lately.

Next, they get into the news that they haven't talked about lately. First, they talk about the Season of Mastery that is being implemented in Warcraft Classic. Nick compares it to the seasons in Diablo III.

Then, they talk about the Sunwarmed Feline coming to retail WoW. Nick wonders what this could say about where we are headed next. He also mentions an article that was released about the Shadowlands Character Creation UI Redesign. They also talked about the World of Warcraft Community Council and how it will only work if Blizzard listens to the Community. They also talk about how the Community is suspicious of content creators. Also, Ion gave an interview with Venturebeat about the state of WoW.

They also discussed the Blizzconline cancellation announcement. Nick is happy with this as it means Blizzard can take time to figure out what Blizzcon could be like in a virtual space. They also talk about Notorious Studios and how people were upset there were no women employees announced, and Nick points out that was the point. They also talked about Jen Oneal leaving Blizzard and how that's a bad look for Blizzard. Finally, they talk about Bobby Kotick's actions sacrificing his salary and the few wins that #ABetterABK earned, especially with the contractor improvements.

October 27, 2021 #196: The Patch 9.1.5 Quiz
Nick, Rei, and Harv are back to talk about their experiences playing World of Warcraft! First, Rei talks about how Order of Corrupted Souls has been struggling with its membership, and how she wound up finding another guild that was also struggling with its roster so they are working together to take on Heroic Sanctum of Domination. Rei talks about the challenges of the two guilds getting along, with how the guild leaders have different ways of sharing criticism with their members, and making sure that no one is offended by how the other guild handles their business.

She also talks about how people need to be responsible for learning the raids and being a competent member of the guild. Harv talks about how he's been playing other MMO's but still enjoys WoW and even wound up fishing in WoW while watching a fishing stream from New World. Harv also talks about running mythic+ and tells a story about a teammate who once stopped a Mythic+ run so that they could eat a ham sandwich.

Next, Nick starts the Patch 9.1.5 quiz. He asks about when the Mage tower will be available, switching covenants, the Maw introduction, Island Expeditions, Legacy Loot Rules, starter gear, achivements (including Mechagon which Nick is very invested in), Allied Race customization, weather effects, and Legion Timewalking. October 12, 2021 #195: Hard Knocks: Blizzard
Nick, Rei, and Harv are back this week to talk about what's been going on in the World of Warcraft. First, they mention that Eric is taking a break from the game and will be taking a break from the the podcast too. Then Rei talks about what she's been doing outside the World of Warcraft that has been keeping her from playing the game. Harv meanwhile has been playing Classic and seeing how many people are playing that instead of playing on retail WoW. Rei talks about a video she watched that talked about the changes that have been coming to the game and how everyone is offended by something so it is hard to remove everything that is offensive to everyone.

This leads Nick to talking about his idea for how Blizzard can turn things around: Hard Knocks: Blizzard. Blizzard should record a behind the scenes documentary that shows the reasons why certain changes are made but also showing the environment so we players can rate how the work environment is. Nick talks about how he'd like a behind the scenes documentary anyway and says that Blizzard needs to think about ways to win back the playerbase that no longer trusts them.

In the news, Season of Mastery has been announced for WoW Classic. This leads to a discussion of Diablo II Resurrected and our memories of Diablo II. Also, Blizzard has seen some executives come and go and is also under investigation from the SEC. Blizzard settled with the EEOC but that settlement is now under investigation as well. Lastly, they discuss a recent Coke commercial that was similar to the Battle for Azeroth cinematic.

FInally, they look back at episode #95 when Antorus was about to come out. They talk about how Stampede was changed and how they liked it the old way.

September 15, 2021 #194: On the Faction Divide and Player Housing
Nick, Rei, Harv, and Eric are back this week to talk about World of Warcraft! First, Rei talks about how she's been busy hiking and hasn't had the usual time to play. Eric talks about how Order of Corrupted Souls has been stuck at Soulrender in Heroic Sanctum of Domination, so they went and basically one-shot the normal raid, only dying to trash. Harv talks about some of the cinematics he gets stuck watching when he is raiding.

Nick talks about the recent announcement of the WoW and Hearthstone cross promotion, with a 6-month subscription to WoW granting card packs, a tavern pass, and battleground perks in Hearthstone. Nick is excited for this as he plays enough Hearthstone to make it worth his while. He also talks about the Sarge mouse mount that will be available October 12th and can be earned by playing the new mercenaries mode in Hearthstone.

Next, they talk about a recent letter from the top Alliance guilds on reddit, discussing the faction imbalance and how high-end players are increasingly going Horde. Rei talks about how, while OoCS hasn't seen any consequences of this, players can find the competetive style difficult to keep up with. Nick talks about how the Horde Hall of Fame for Sanctum of Domination has been closed for a month, and yet the Alliance Hall of Fame is only at 92. They then discuss the possibility that Blizzard could lift the faction divide in 10.0. They also talk about how Blizzard could consider adding player housing to maintain interest in the game in the next expansion.

September 01, 2021 #193: Raiding and Patch 9.1.5 Drama
Rei, Nick, Eric, and Harv are back to talk about what's going on in World of Warcraft! But first, Rei talks about her time raiding and the experience she is getting by tanking and dps'ing that she can use to better herself as a healer. She talks about how none of the healers in LFR were dispelling properly and that leads to a discussion between Harv and Nick talking about hunter abilities. Rei also talks about running a +17 and managing to do well on that.

Eric talks about their experiences in Heroic Sanctum of Domination. He talks about struggling on Soulrender. He and Harv both got their unholy domination socket bonus. They also talk about wiping on Normal Sylvanas.

Nick talks about the recent drama surrounding the patch 9.1.5 news. Blizzard is introducing several quality of life changes and the community is angry because they asked for these back in beta and Blizzard is only finally delivering them now. Nick talks about the cycle of how this has gone on since the legendaries in Legion were gated until they weren't and then Azerite Armor was disliked until Blizzard reworked it in 8.1.5. Nick says that Blizzard needs to make sure they don't follow this pattern in the next expansion.

He also briefly talks about the Activision-Blizzard lawsuit and how after news broke that Blizzard was shredding documents releveant to the investigation, the patch 9.1.5 announcement came out to deflect from that. He says that this was the work of the devs trying to improve the game, but then sheds some suspicions towards the PR department for the possibility to delay announcements.

He also talks about the loss to the WoW Community of Epic Insanity and Rades, who both passed away this past week. Our condolences to their friends and family.

Finally, they look back at episode #93, which was right before Blizzcon 2017 (when Legion was announced) and all the potential hype that entailed.

August 18, 2021 #192: Raid Status and Toxic Chat
Nick, Rei, Eric, and Harv are back this week to talk about all the latest goings on in the World of Warcraft community! First, Rei talks about what she's been doing in game. She talks about how she's been working on her professions, and how the tool to check guild member's professions has been fixed. This leads to a discussion of online chat and how people need to be in the chat program to respond to requests to do stuff in game. The group also goes off on a tangent talking about keyboards and typing speeds.

Eric talks about how the guild has beaten Normal Sylvanas and Heroic Terragrue. Nick asks if anyone got Sylvanas' bow, and this leads to a discussion about non-hunters using the bow and letting it split into glaives like in the cinematic.

Harv, meanwhile, has been enjoying the raid. He mentions that he likes the Kael'thas fight as there's alot of AOE for him to burn down. They also talk about when to cast herolust and talk about raid mechanics from prior raids including Jaina in the Battle of Dazar'Alor.

Nick talks about the recent events surrounding Blizzard. J Allen Brack has resigned and has been replaced by Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra. There has been no acknowledgement by Activision Blizzard of the employee's demands. Nick mentions that Luis Barriga, Jesse McCree, and Jonathan LeCraft are no longer with Blizzard. He talks about how there is currently a stalemate where the company is not acknowledging demands and that is how the company wants it as they are hoping to wait out the employees.

They also discuss an article that compares the toxicity in WoW and Final Fantasy XIV and says that Square Enix did a better job of moderating their community early on to keep it clean, and it has paid off.

Finally, they discuss episode #92 where murlocs seemed like they might be playable.
