Bridgeport Art Trail '18 Concert - November 9, 2018

Latin America-NA a multi-cultural 'happening' at The Bijou Theatre in Bridgeport to benefit non-profit community radio station WPKN 89.5-FM and The Bridgeport Art Trail.

GM Steve di Costanzo and Suzanne Kachmar City Lights founder and founder/organizer of the 10th Annual Bridgeport Art Trail kick off the evening.

Rick Reyes of the Cosmic Jibaros crafted an eclectic fusion of Latin, Bluegrass, Blues, Country and Folk performed by a line-up of outstanding musicians even adding some ‘Beatnik-style’ spoken word by poet Iyaba Ibo Mandingo, accompanied by bassist Rich Zurkowsky. Other musicians include, Dan Tressler, Uma Lou, Obanilu Iré Allende on percussion, MD Rickers on drums and more. There are also several special guests including Rex Fowler (Aztec Two-Step) and Dodie. Another guest- singer songwriter Brad Lauretti.

Studio guests include Suzanne Kachmar, the organizer of the event (City Lights) as well as artists Denyse Schmidt and Tom Mezzanotte. We will also have some phoners with Rick Reyes, coordinating the LATIN AMERICA-NA benefit concert for WPKN and The Bridgeport Art Trail. That is Friday night at the Bijou from 8pm to 11pm. It will be broadcast live on WPKN and streamed as well. We'll talk with Bob Halstead who coordinates the Bike Trail...and also talk with Chris Ruggiero, one of the artists playing at WPKN on Sunday as part of the BRIDGEPORT AUDIO TRAIL. Sunday 12noon to 2pm. The event is FREE and at the WPKN studios in the Cox Student Center.
