Wrestle Update

Special Wrestle Update! Rounding out our Continental Classic coverage we couldn't leave the people cold over the holidays because we got a lot to say about everything and everybody as we ended block play and get into the semis. But first over 100 minutes on ROH's Final Battle, one of the best matches of the whole year and a really strong show top to bottom, wanted to give one last bit of shine to it. Having a bona fide hoot of a time and Nello giving major props to Billie Starkz for holding up in a major main event at such a young age, as well as Athena's great title reign so far. As well, as a rundown of the post show media scrum and thoughts on everyone who said their piece. We sincerely wish everyone Happy Holidays and somehow, some way you can get free stuff!

Another big episode talking about the Continental Classic and just AEW in general as we discuss the standings, where things could go, and then talk a bit about Bryan Danielson being the new Sherrif in town, and the potential USA jumps and rumors revolving around Giulia and Kazuchika Okada. We then follow up on CM Punk's first couple of weeks of promos as well as one of the best promos of Seth Rollins' career and Nello speaks on his own feelings. After that we finish up with NXT Deadline, the home of the excellent Iron Survivor challenge stipulation matches. We go through the whole card and then at the end, Dylan has a special announcement in regards to the next NXT show Vengeance Day.

Let us know what your thoughts are on the CC, Punk, Deadline or Final Battle coming up along with everything else going on this year in wrestling.

Dylan and Nello are back, covering the WAR GAMES that took place in Chicago, for both the women and the men as well as a ho-hum card in between that lead to a show bookended with good spectacles, and then the ultimate spectacle at the end. CM Punk is back. Just month after Nello thought he was rid of him forever, he's returned and with that comes a lot of talk from a lot of places. We discuss his return, possible plans, his motivation, the reactions online as well as the Seth Rollins video that dropped online showing him furious. We then take a look at the Press Conference after the show featuring Triple H on the podium addressing multiple subjects, the potential for more shots fired between AEW & WWE, Cody being a true professional while also being a jokester, and the state of everything coming off the historic show. Finally for the last 20 minutes or so we give a spotlight to the Continental Classic, talking about the two matches for Collision as well as predictions for the next week in the tournament!

We're back talking Full Gear, giving us the dichotomy of one of the year's best matches and then followed by one of the worst, with a lot of talk about many different aspects of AEW right now, along with some disagreements even! On Copeland/Christian, Timeless Toni & Shida, and a bit of a difference on the Golden Jets and Young Bucks. Every match and angle is covered from the full show, the Continental Classic, Will Ospreay's debut and where AEW can go from here.

Dylan and Nello are back with a full review of WWE's Crown Jewel, a show with both women's and men's world's titles defended and an appalling Miz TV segment for multiple reasons. After the first 90 minutes or so we get into the real main event: Our fantasy shows! We go back to last week's draft episode and put together our cards with the best of wrestling has to offer. How did we use him? What were our philosophies? Who had the better show? How much better were both than Crown Jewel? We have the answers! To most of that.

In perhaps the craziest episode of Wrestle Update yet, Nello came up with the idea for us to do a company draft and clearly it was on short notice as it led to us asking the question of if Cody Rhodes counts as a rookie and if Liv Morgan's title reign is justified. We set out our...extremely loose format to set up our rosters as us both having 5 slots available for men and women each with companies listed as:

- WWE

- AEW

- Impact

- Indies

- International

With the restrictions on picking people being:

- Only 1 Current/Former World Champion

- 1 "Rookie" wrestler who has been with their company for 2 years or less.

- 1 Tag Team pick (which can be a custom pairing)

- 1 Wild Card that can be anyone who hasn't been a Champ in their companies.

With relaxed rules for the indies and International where anyone could be in play.

Who did we take? What do these companies look like? Tune in and find out what happens as we birth Zanarkand Pro Wrestling and Sicko Pro Wrestling and how we stack up, as well as our top picks!

Wrestle Update is back with a full review of the WrestleDream, the AEW show dedicated to Antonio Inoki. The AEW show said to start a new era, which apparently was either forgotten or we are in for a whole hell of a lot more Edge! That's right, the Rated R Superstar Adam Copeland is in AEW. We give our thoughts on the whole show, give out some love to everyone one of AEW's best shows in history, featuring 3 excellent matches that got the world talking including the #2 rated match of the year anywhere on http://Cagematch.net and yet another classic with amazing commentary provided by Jon Moxley and Nigel! We talk about where things are looking for Full Gear, and close out with a very brief preview talking Fastlane, GCW, and gaming first crushes!?

The show this week was recorded immediately after AEW Grand Slam! We discuss the full show, all 5 matches and the setups for them, the angles they've run and a spirited discussion of the main event angle, particularly on this show. Eddie Kingston triumphs, unplanned wins and the question of just how exactly MJF got ahold of that kid's DNA test, every possible angle is covered. Finally, at the end of the show, we give an update on Vince McMahon and the legal issues surrounding him after the recent LA Times article on him and close off with a talk about Sukeban Joshi and how it could be a game changer in how wrestling approaches how to stream through Tiktok.

An utterly bizarre first 45 minutes to the show sees the WU crew talk about the recently released PWI500, what value the list has in this day and age, Big Dust and BEEF respect and laugh about the insane combinations of people appearing next to each other before Dylan proclaims his votes for the top 10 based on PWI's stated criteria. From there we talk about The Rock's shocking return to Smackdown, where Nello points out he too isn't above scabbing during the writer's strike, followed by talk about a potential Roman vs. Rock main event. We then talk about the WWE/UFC merger and the world we live in allowing Vince McMahon to outplay everyone and somehow end up with more power than ever, potential releases and some unhinged UFC/WWE fantasy booking and who we want to see enter the octagon as well as a pleas for Weili to enter the WWE women's division. From there we close it out with a look towards AEW, Jade Cargill's contract status and her future in WWE, then a preview of the upcoming Grand Slam show, main evented by MJF vs. Samoa Joe.

Time Stamps:

0-48:00 - Shenanigans/PWI Stuff

48:00-1:21:00 - WWE/UFC Merger

1:21:00 - END - Jade to WWE + AEW Grand Slam talk
