Four Wright State athletes and coaches are making history by stepping onto NCAA committees for the 2026-27 academic year—two coaches and two student-athletes representing the Raiders and Horizon League in shaping the future of college sports. Coach Clint Sargent joins the Men’s Basketball Rules Subcommittee, while Coach Alex Sogard takes on the Baseball Rules Subcommittee, both working to refine game integrity. Student-athlete Jahi McDonald will advocate for athletes on the Student-Athlete Advocacy Committee and oversee track & field/cross-country rules, while Kellen Pickett brings athlete voices to the Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group. Their involvement signals a powerful commitment to influencing policies that impact every level of collegiate athletics—from the court to the track—and ensures student-athletes remain at the heart of decision-making.

Wright State baseball is revving up with a major coaching upgrade: Head coach Alex Sogard’s new trio—Luke Arnold, Zac Butler, and Myles Martinez—all bring elite playing experience back to the program. Arnold, a five-year veteran infielder with championship pedigree, returns as an assistant coach. Martinez, a standout lefty pitcher who earned All-American honors and posted elite stats at Dallas Baptist, takes charge of pitching and program development. Butler, a senior catcher who hit a homer against Tennessee, steps into player development with a focus on catchers. This blend of familiar faces and proven talent signals a serious push for success.

Wright State women’s soccer just unveiled their fiery 2026 schedule — a 20-game grind with eight home dates at Alumni Field. They start with an exhibition against Western Carolina, then hit the road for their opener at Southern Indiana before returning home to face Butler and IUP. Late August brings four straight away games at Marshall, Kentucky, Dayton, and Bellarmine, followed by a home showdown with Indiana State. Horizon League play kicks off Sept. 19 at Robert Morris, with tough matchups against Green Bay and Milwaukee — both last year’s deep playoff teams. The Raiders also tackle new foes like IU Indy and Northern Illinois, then close strong with home games vs. Purdue Fort Wayne and Cleveland State, finishing with three October road tests. After a seven-win, seven-loss, five-draw season that ended in the Horizon League quarterfinals, this squad is hungry for improvement — blending veteran leadership with fresh talent to dominate the conference and chase postseason glory.
