Female artists face a lot while we chase our dreams in the music industry. Being an artist comes with many obstacles and requires strength and confidence. On top of the typical challenges, female artists have to jump even more hurdles because of being women. I’m honored to share an outstanding conversation with Olivia Lynn all about walking in the shoes of a female artist.
The quote for this episode is by Taylor Swift: “My hope for the future, not just in the music industry, but in every young girl I meet, is that they all realize their worth and ask for it.” Olivia and I have such an open and honest conversation about being female artists. We talk about challenges that come with being a female artist, overcoming societal expectations, dealing with being treated as inferior to male artists, receiving disrespectful comments, facing situations where the focus is on our looks rather than our music, being brushed off or put down by other female artists, finding our support systems, Olivia’s single, “Ain’t It a Shame,” and much more. My conversation with Olivia gives such a real glimpse into what it’s like walking in the shoes of a female artist. I hope it brings awareness and empowers other female artists to embrace who they are and never settle for less than they deserve.
