Helping individuals from marginalized communities and disadvantaged areas with the dream of entrepreneurship start and become successful business owners.
Kathie's note: Vince and I met in the late 1900s at a chamber of commerce event. He's a talker, I'm a talker, wouldn't you like to be a talker too?!? We've become business besties over the years, and started meeting at various local Starbucks once a month, then every three weeks, and then at some point said, fine, every Tuesday morning.
I've kept a running list of some of his quotes over the years. We discuss some of them in this episode. Hey, the list would make a good blog post (adding to to-do list).

Kathie's note: I met Sofia in a breakout room during a CreativeMornings FieldTrip. The topic was goal setting and planning. Make that three breakouts, according to my notes that I liked to have never found—what with flipping through umpteen pages of this spiralbound notebook to find. Anyhoodles. Sofia (Sofi!) was delightful and I knew she needed to be on this podcast. So much talent, so many stories.

And he has a Stock Investor Accelerator course on his website so you can learn professional investor skills.
Kathie's note: Henry is a fellow Cavedweller at Caveday.org, where people around the world get our individual work done in the presence of others. He is super chill, and fun, and smart.
In this episode I take one for the team, admitting I know nothing about stocks or investing or financial finances. I mean, we're talking "I know vegetable stock is actually a broth, not a stock" level of money acumen is where I land. I had so much fun interviewing Henry without the need to do a ton of research. I didn't have to put on airs (or hard pants, for that matter, thanks to Zoom).

Hanna Wheeler is a Belgian Canadian living in Toronto, where she works as a copywriter and translator from Dutch into English. You can find her at her desk by the big window or in one of a dozen of her favorite coffee shops in the city (her favourite in Canada).
As a translator, she has worked on both fiction and nonfiction, from historical biographies and coffee table books to YA novels, children’s picture books, and graphic novels. She also translates creative marketing copy. As a writer, she loves working with not-for-profit organizations, innovative brands, and creative agencies.
On a personal level, Hanna appreciates a good ampersand, makes herself a vanilla latte every morning, and owns a scraggly dog who may or may not be a tiny werewolf. She loves the word flabbergasted and was able to sneak it into all three of the romance novels she translated last year.

In this episode, we share writing tips and processes: our thoughts on proofreading, editing, quote attribution, revisions, and fonts. I love shoptalk.

Natalie Ferris is a marketing strategist, direct response copywriter and the founder of Story Strategies. She's been obsessed with storytelling since second grade, when she used to skip recess to hide in the classroom closet and write "novels."
It wasn't until her first years in the working world that she discovered the power of storytelling to move revenue; as communications officer for a global nonprofit, a single success story she wrote resulted in an 18-month extension to a program that was on the chopping block.
Since 2014 she's applied that wisdom to help female entrepreneurs tell stories that attract attention, build relationships and ultimately, inspire sales. Natalie believes that everyone has a story to tell, they just need courage and clarity to put it out there— and that's where she comes in!
Natalie lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her husband and her mischievous Havanese, Meeko. She still hasn't tried hot dish, but she loves going Up North.

Kathie's note: I met Natalie in a breakout room during a Caveday sprint. I'm kind of obsessed with Caveday and basically consider it my office. When Natalie introduced herself as a story marketing strategist, I popped up like a prairie dog and said, "Do what?!? Tell me everything." And I asked her on the podcast so you could hear it also.

Kathie's note: Carla and I met in Jen Lehner's Front Row VIP. This was probably in 2020? We Zoomed after a group Zoom one time and just talked and talked. Jen is super duper cool. Carla rides motorcycles, so she's cooler than cool. I like hanging around the cool kids.

"Wait, you like astrology?" Wait, YOU too? "What about human design?" Love it! "Enneagram and all the woo?" Yes, yes, and all the yeses.

I can't remember how that assignment came about; maybe I met her through a chamber event and pitched the idea to the editor? Hmm... She's one of those people I feel as if I've known forever. And a fellow Libra.
