Long time St. Joe Tennis coach Pat Hoffmann has announced he is stepping away from coaching. Hoffmann started his coaching career at Lake Michigan Catholic and then, after a handful of years, took over the St. Joe program. Hoffmann guided the Bears to 22 regional championships and a state championship in 2007.

He spoke with Phil McDonald about his career and the decision to step away from coaching…

Benton Harbor defeated Kalamazoo Central 68-62 Friday night in boys' basketball.  Phil McDonald caught up with Carlos Johnson and Quindarius Davis after the game to talk about the win...

 

Shane Williams of Lakeshore High School Wrestling is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of December 8, 2019.

In the Lancers’ season opening victory over Mishawaka, Shane scored a 15-0 technical fall win. Later in the week, he won the 135 lb. championship at the Allegan invitational recording two pins and a decision.

Shane is also a member of the Lakeshore Baseball team, National Honor Society, and Key Club. In the classroom, he carries a 4.0 grade point average.

Shane is the son of Tony and Eileen Williams of Stevensville.

Other finalists for the week were JJ Bushu of Lakeshore Basketball, Kade Wagley of Niles Wrestling, and Hunter Adams of Bridgman Basketball.

Kallie Harrison of Bloomingdale High School Basketball is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of December 8, 2019.

In the Cardinals’ win over White Pigeon, Kallie finished with 22 points, four assists, six steals, and six rebounds. Then in a win over Bangor, she scored 32 points to go along with ten steals, two assists, and two rebounds.

Kallie is also an Academic All-State member of the Bloomindale Cross Country and Track teams, Softball team, National Honor Society, and the school leadership team. She also serves as a Christian Fellowship student leader. In the classroom, she carries a 4.1 grade point average.

Kallie is the daughter of William Harrison and Jill Martinez.

Other finalists for the week were Trevor Winkel of South Haven Wrestling and Sarah Dekoning of Lawton Basketball.
