Dawson Bruckner of Niles High School Wrestling is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of January 27, 2019.

As the Vikings captured the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, Dawson won the individual title at 189 lbs. He pinned his opponent from Lakeshore in the first round, pinned his opponent from Portage Central in the second round, pinned his opponent from Lakeview in the third round, and scored a 3-1 decision over the 8th ranked wrestler in the state from Kalamazoo Central in the championship match.

Dawson is also a member of the Niles Football team. In the classroom, he carries a 3.28 grade point average.

Dawson is the son of Bela and Stephanie Bruckner of Niles.

Another finalist for the week was Kade Wagley of Niles Wrestling.
