Ready or not!! We're back for a brand new season!!

Did you miss our coverage this summer? Don't worry! We kick off the show with a hilarious new game where we recap all of the biggest (and craziest) news stories that occurred this past summer to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." (Setting the Zombie Apocalypse, Caiden Cowger, Fifty Shades of Grey, and the NY Soda Ban [among others] to music is harder than it sounds!). During out musical interlude this week, we introduce the campus to Ruthie Shaffer, our resident Freshman country pop star (in the making)! We next turn our attention to current events, covering the DNC, the RNC (in an unbiased manner) and the Middle Eastern Anti-American riots inspired by a hateful Youtube video. Finally, we lead off the show with a quick discussion of this year's WILD artist reveal as well as a look at some awesome events coming up on campus.

This episode is double-legnth, so for convenience (and the highest sound quality), we recommend downloading it and putting it on your iPod (it'll hold your place for you if you want to listen in multiple sittings). This week's episode of WURD is absolute crap. Take my advice, you probably just shouldn't listen. The show definitely won't feature Cary Simowitz, Brett Jordan, Bayan Jalalizadeh, Rohan Jalalizadeh, or Robyn Husa. We won't be discussing relevant things like influential speakers coming to the WashU campus (including the announcement of the commencement speaker), printing fees, a scandal involving the SATs and ACTs, or the healthcare debate. We just sort of sit there for a half an hour and let the microphone run in silence. Really, this is just plain crap. Don't bother. Seriously. Go away!

Hate crimes have been all over the news this past week, and Cary Simowitz, David Hackett, Robyn Husa, Josh Kallman, Sanaa Abrar, and newcomer Alex Tinianow are back to cover it all. On our very own campus, an unnamed female decided to vandalize cars parked outside of the campus ZBT Fraternity House and Chabad by keying swastikas into them. Dharun Ravi finally faced harsh prosecution nearly a full year after a deplorable homophobic "prank" led his college roommate, Tyler Clementi, to commit suicide. And Floridian Treyvon Martin was brutally murdered by an overzealous neighborhood watchman for... well... wearing a hoodie while under the influence of being an African American male. In sports this week, David Hackett covers Tim Tebow's trade and the end result of Bountygate.
