Christine Miles is an author, professional keynote speaker, consultant, executive coach, thought leader, and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of EQuipt, a training and consulting company that helps leadership teams grow sales, develop people, and create cultures of understanding. Christine is also the author of the book, “What Is It Costing You Not to Listen?”. This book encourages people to examine how they are listening. This book delves into the fact that not only are the problems one may experience in life due to not listening effectively, but listening helps to solve most problems.

Christine joins the show to further talk about the context of her book, and to also talk about how people can learn to listen more effectively.

Phillip Brown, the Upper School Theater Director at Shipley School, has a profession to teach everything he loves — writing, directing and performing in theater.

Mr. Brown recently worked with David Corenswet, the principal actor and star of this year’s “Superman” movie as David’s coach. He joined Dr. Peterson on Evening WURDs to talk about that experience and him being the Theater Director at Shipley School.

Dr. Monica Taylor, who was sworn in for her first term in January 2020, is the first African American elected to Delaware County Council.

Dr. Taylor has spearheaded the effort to create a County Health Department, which launched in April 2022; and with safe & affordable housing being a priority of hers, Dr. Taylor collaborated with community partners to create the Country’s Housing Continuum Coalition in January 2023, to focus on helping unhoused residents, improving rental housing infrastructure, and affordable home ownership.

With Delaware County’s current teacher shortage, lifelong educator and past Upper Darby School Board member, Dr. Taylor is addressing this immediate concern with a dual-enrollment program that allows Delaware Country high school students to take college credits, putting them on a path toward a degree in education.

She joined Dr. Peterson on Evening WURDs to discuss more about the dual-enrollment program.

Donald E. Camp and Clarence Williams are photographers who captured the devastation of Hurricane Catrina in New Orleans. They are having a photo exhibition titled, Revelations: An Evolution of Introspection. It will be at the InLiquid Gallery, 1400 N. American Street. August 14th from 6pm-9pm.

Clarence Williams survived being stranded on a rooftop for three days following the storm. He was originally there to photograph his cousin’s wedding when Katrina hit. Donald E. Camp is a renowned photographer who, in the work displayed in this exhibition, used traces of earth from New Orleans’ 9th Ward, one of the areas hardest hit by flooding, for his non-traditional techniques, which create earth pigments used in the printing of his photographic portraits.

Clarence and Donald both join the show to further talk about their experiences with Hurricane Katrina, and to discuss what people can expect to see at their upcoming exhibit.

Nina Ball is the new Deputy Director at the Painted Bride Arts Center: an organization that brings together artists, visionaries, and activists who seek to reshape the world through creative courage. Since the Bride’s founding, it has supported more than 25,000 artists, presented over 5,000 events, commissioned more than 100 new works, and facilitated hundreds of community-led workshops.
