Jenny Lowman is the Grants Manager for Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, where she oversees all pre- and post- award activities for a large diverse portfolio of grants.

Barbara Stripling has held positions as a school librarian and District Director of Libraries in Arkansas and New York City, and Associate Professor in the iSchool at Syracuse University.

They both joined Dr. Peterson for the monthly Philly Reads segment on Evening WURDs to talk about how the Philadelphia Alliance to Restore School Librarians works to restore librarians staff with certified teacher librarians in Philadelphia schools.

Dr. Christina Cho is the executive director of an organization called, “Summer Search Philly”. This organization provides mentoring, summer experiential learning, and support during the critical transition from high school to post-secondary education to youth in Philadelphia.

Dr. Cho joins the show to talk about what Summer Search Philly is, and the various opportunities and benefits it provides for the youth in Philadelphia.

Denise Haynes is the author of the book, “Talent Show”, her debut novel. This book delves into the dynamic of who parents actually were before they became parents. This book details the life of an introverted father who becomes talkative and lifts the curtain on who his wife was before she was a mother, who she became after, and who each of his children were in his eyes. Her book also shows slices of Trinidadian life during its final days under British colonial rule, of which she lived through.

Denise joins the show to further discuss the context of her book, and what her motive was to write it after being a lawyer for 16 years.

Ashley Scott is an international recording artist, songwriter, and performer whose

music fuses the elegance of classic soul with a forward-looking creative spirit. A

proud Howard University alumnus and CEO of Philash Entertainment Group, Ashley is the nephew of Helen Scott of the legendary group The Three Degrees.

Ashley joins the show to talk about the release of his single, “Love You For All Time”. He talks about the content of this song, and what went into producing it. Ashley also touches on what he hopes be people can take from listening to his single, as well as his music as a whole.
