Marvin DeBose is Assistant Chief of the North Neighborhood Library Clusters at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Lifelong Philadelphia native and committed library professional with over 20 years of service at the Free Library of Philadelphia, with career spanned roles as Branch Manager and Adult/Teen Librarian, with a strong focus on community engagement, literacy, and youth empowerment.

Mr. DeBose is passionate about the Overbrook Park branch’s Urban Fiction collection—the largest in the Free Library system—along with being the Founder of the Teen Street Lit Book Club, and his work with the Pennsylvania African American Library Association.

He joined Dr. Peterson to talk about his literacy work here in Philadelphia.

Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, a third-generation North Philadelphia native, is a legislator currently serving in the Pennsylvania General Assembly. In 2023, Rep Kenyatta was appointed by President Joe Biden to chair the Presidential Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans.

Throughout his career, Representative Kenyatta has been a vocal proponent of protecting workers’ rights and rooting out government corruption and waste. He holds multiple legislative leadership roles, including as a member of the powerful House State Government Committee that oversees state agencies and elections, and Chair of the Financial Services and Banking Subcommittee in the House Commerce Committee.

He joins Dr. Peterson to talk about the Democratic National Committee and legislation he currently supports.

Attorney Keir Bradford-Grey is the Head of Marrone Law Firm’s Civil Rights Litigation Department. She joined Dr. Peterson to discuss a recent Inquire article that reported teens being tracked by GPS monitoring with no warrant required and for first-time offending youth that haven’t been charged for nonviolent offenses.
