Dr. Alpa Patel is a co-investigator of the “VOICES Study”: an initiative from the American Cancer Society whose mission is to gain valuable insights into the diverse experiences and health challenges faced by Black women. Plyshette Wiggins is a Philadelphia Area VOICES ambassador.

They both join the show to talk about the new foundings from the VOICES Study, which found that the cancer mortality rate declined from 1991 to 2022 by 49% and 33% in Black men and women, respectively, in the United States. However, African American and Black people continue to have a disproportionately elevated cancer burden compared to other population groups.

Elizabeth DeFelice is the Director of Equipment Operations at Temple University. She joins the show to talk about her daily job dealing with equipment for Temple's Basketball teams and their Olympic sports teams.
