Trapeta B. Mayson is a poet, and she’s the founder of Healing Verse Philly Poetry Line, a 24/7 phone line offering a new poem weekly alongside mental health resources. Trapeta is also a community practice artist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Chief Program Officer at a community mental health agency in Philadelphia. In 2021, she received an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship. She is the Co-Artistic Lead of Healing Verse Germantown, an arts-based intervention created to address the mental health wounds of gun violence in Germantown through the transformative power of poetry and public art.

Creative Philadelphia, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and community members will open the Healing Verse Germantown: The Streets Are Talking’s public art exhibition featuring 19 site-specific installations across the Germantown neighborhood on April 11. The comprehensive exhibition features poems by 19 Germantown residents who developed the poems through community workshops that have been transformed into public artworks. The works range from a collage poster series, video installations, Virtual Reality constellations, interactive floral offerings, a stained glass panel installation on a SEPTA bus shelter, and a wrapped SEPTA bus. The exhibition will remain on view through June 2026, with public programming and guided tours are scheduled throughout its run.
