Rashid Zakat is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and DJ. His work over the past two decades consists of short films, documentaries, music videos, internet art, photography, dance parties, and installations. Rashid is an artist at Art Philly, a new citywide initiative that’s dedicated to celebrating Philadelphia as a vital center for arts and culture, while advancing equity and economic inclusion for the region’s diverse artists and arts organizations.
From May 27th to July 4th, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, Arts Philly will launch, “What Now: 2026”, their inaugural city-wide multi-disciplinary arts festival. At this festival, Rashid will be presenting an iteration of, “Revival!”, a multi-sited public space video and performance installation emerging from and attuned to the spiritual practices of Black folks. This series will consist of a series of 4 pop-up performances in specific outdoor public spaces.
