In this episode of The W.W.A.A. Podcast, the Host Kristy Mickelsen is joined by special guest Author Neil Adams.
Neil wrote a memoir book about his friend Michael Dorian, who overcame a childhood marked by poverty and instability to build a life grounded in purpose and compassion. While quietly living with HIV, he put himself through college and became a veterinary technician. After 9/11, he went to Ground Zero to help in the rescue efforts, exposing himself to long-term health risks. Despite everything, Michael continued to serve his community as a volunteer police officer, consistently putting others before himself and embodying resilience, loyalty, and selflessness.
Inspiring and deeply personal, the memoir touches on 9/11 remembrance, first responder stories, personal resilience, and LGBTQ+ journeys, and in this episode we discuss all of this and more.
