As we follow Elijah through this story we hear of a God who provides abundantly in the wilderness, in drought, and even in death.

God's promise to David of house leans forward to the one who sits upon that throne forever: Jesus.

This week we see Israel forget God and God's promises to them and turn aside. Though they have been unfaithful, God remembers God's promises.

Joseph's story bears witness to our faith-informed hope that though we may not understand why God is, in the longest scope, able to bend even evil back toward His purposes.

As we begin a new program year together we go back to the beginning and hear again the whole story of God. What we find from the very beginning in the Garden is a God who comes relentlessly seeking us, even in our shame and hiddenness.
