In the September edition of “Birds-I-View” Bella Marello, Jason Zaehler, and Cole Loiacano dove into the topic of child safety in our local schools with a look at some recent Unit 5 grooming cases, childhood sexual assault statistics, common misconceptions, procedures, and prevention. 

The show opened with Cole Loiacano looking into two local ongoing investigations surrounding child grooming in to same Unit 5 junior high school. legislative process behind the bill and what the opposing and supporting sides had to say on it (2:35-5:38). Following this, Jason Zaehler focused on training and procedures from the Unit 5 school district (6:20-9:25).

Next, Quinn Lyons took a look at training and procedures from the perspective of an Illinois State University student (10:38-14:05). Rachael Deerfield dove into signs of abuse and how to prevent abuse (15:02-17:58).

Then, Kyra Craddock discussed some common misconceptions surrounding child sexual assault (18:28-19:28). The show closed with Bella Marello looking into how education plays a role in this topic (19:56-23:26).
