X-Treks

Does your favorite sci-fi show have an episode where villains use tricks of the eye or change their physical forms to fool the unsuspecting heroes? For Stella Cheeks, it's (kind of) the Star Trek TOS episode "Mudd's Women," and for Erin Cline, it's (maybe) the X-Files episodes "Terms Of Endearment." Ok look, no amount of alliteration will cover up the fact that the theme of this episode is looser than a settler on Ophiucus III, but you gotta give the demon his due! It's still a very fun show where we express love for practical FX and foppish space criminals! Still #GoodAtPodcasting --- About the podcast: Erin Cline and Stella Cheeks have been friends for over a decade but have never seen each other's favorite TV show. Seeking to rectify that grievous error (seriously, they used to live together), X-Treks was born! Each week the duo choose one episode from Star Trek: The Original Series and one episode from The X-Files that fits a previously chosen cinematic theme, watch them together, and share their feelings! Alongside producer Bobby Hoffman, they discuss their first impressions, how the episodes fit into the larger fan lore, and fascinating behind-the-scenes facts. --- Follow The X-Treks Crew Twitter: @nydproductions #xtrekspod @Stella_Cheeks @Haberdasher9k Instagram: @NYDProductions @NYDErnGenC

Does your favorite sci-fi show have an episode where doctors or dictators dabble in DNA debauchery?

For Stella Cheeks, it's the Star Trek TOS episode "Space Seed," and for Erin Cline, it's the X-Files episode "Eve." It's season 2 of X-Treks, and it starts with two tales of ribosomal rumbles! --- About the podcast: Erin Cline and Stella Cheeks have been friends for over a decade but have never seen each other's favorite TV show. Please enjoy the first episode of our very real, totally not a joke, podcast - Unofficial Channels. As a result of X-Treks, Stella has a new tsunami level thirst for Mitch Pileggi. Unfortunately, he's not in every X-Files episode they watch, so consider Unofficial Channels a thirst triage!

Normally, this is a Patreon exclusive podcast, but to celebrate X-Treks Season Two and announce our Patreon's restructuring (every patron gets everything for as little as a dollar!), we thought we'd share this ridiculous podcast.

Not sure if it's an incentive, but it is fun!

Erin Cline & Stella Cheeks are back for X-Treks season two. The beliefs are bolder, the truth is seekier and the ships are PROUD and LOUD.

Buckle up and bring a friend. It's going to be a wild ride!

What's it like to watch an entire season of a show in order after you've only ever seen 20 random episodes? Will it change your perspective of the show? Or is your gut instinct right?

For this between season X-Treks X-Tra episode, Erin and Bobby gave Stella the green light to watch X-Files season one (mostly) and Stella finally learns that aliens are the least interesting thing about the X-Files and the real spooky is the friends we made along the way.

What's the worst version of your favorite tv show, and how can you convince your friend to hate it with you?

For this between season X-Treks X-Tra episode, Erin and Stella watch the movie Star Trek (2009) and discuss how something as clever as an alternate Star Trek TOS universe could have gone so straight and so wrong! Join us as we go out of our Vulcan minds discussing the brief highs and deep lows of J.J. Abrams' thinly veiled Star Wars audition. Can't you tell we liked it?

For Stella Cheeks, that's the Star Trek TOS episode "Mirror, Mirror" and for Erin Cline, it's the X-Files episode "The Lost Art of The Forehead Sweat".

It's the granddaddy of all AU fics and the X-File to end all x-files! Spock's got a beard, Reggie makes it weird, and this as well rhymes in an... Alternate Universe!
