• Let me clarify for the audience that does not follow closely. Tariffs are paid by the importer based on the wholesale price of the product as delivered by the exporting country depending on the exporters’ tariff rate. Tariffs are NOT LEVIED/PAID based on the retail price of the product as sold to the consumer.
• Example:  A pair of Denim Jeans made in China for Guess Brand. The Chinese manufacturer sells the jeans to Guess Brand for $10 a pair manufactured. Guess sells the jeans at retail in the USA for $100 (a $90 gross profit).
• A 50% tariff on China means the jeans cost Guess Brand $15 instead of $10 (an $85 gross profit). A 50% tariff on Guess brand jeans, that retail for $100, changes the cost to the retail brand by $5.
• Multinational corporations who have off shored their production and manufacturing to China are the ones screaming about tariffs. Ultimately in the final analysis, President Trump is exposing corporatism, multinational corporate vultures; he is not necessarily just exposing China.
• In the example above the company makes $85 gross profit as opposed to $90 gross profit on the pair of jeans if they do not raise the retail price. They don’t raise the price because their profit margins are already ridiculous, and that’s why consumer prices do not go up. A 50% direct tariff on Chinese goods only marginally hits the multinational corporation. American consumers need to understand this dynamic better.   WATCH:Â

Details Surface of FBI Record System Containing “Prohibited Access†Files, Exclusively Controlled by 7th Floor FBI OfficialsÂ

• Â Within the Grassley release the declassified FBI investigative notes show that Trump-Russia files were compartmentalized, allowing control over access to them by the FBI Director and FBI Deputy Director.
• The 7th floor level classification within the FBI’s Sentinel record-keeping system was previously unknown, and now people are starting to ask questions about what other information may be filed yet invisible due to the classification designation of “Prohibited Access.â€
• The Sentinel record-keeping system allows FBI officials and investigators to review and research the status of investigations both past and current. The Sentinel system is also the information system that is searched for responsive documents to legal cases and FOIA inquires. The Sentinel system contains all the information used by the FBI.

• Within the Sentinel system there are “Restricted Access†files that are used to control who can view the file information. The FBI official can see the file but cannot access the information within it without a higher clearance level. However, now people are discovering there is a “Prohibited Access†designation that makes the file invisible to searches or queries and is controlled by the FBI Director and FBI Deputy Director.
• Margot Cleveland is asking some good questions about how the use of the “Prohibited Access†designation may circumvent the FBI’s legal requirements (brady material) and FOIA searches. [SEE HERE] However, I would also note this approach hides information not only from congress and from the public, but also from the Executive branch itself. The DNI wouldn’t even know what information exists.

• The same “secrecy filtering†system outlined in the FBI Sentinel system, “restricted access†(visible but needing a higher clearance) vs “prohibited access†(totally invisible) exists in other govt systems.

Core Inflation Falls To Lowest Rate In Four Years

• William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, cited this declaration in an April 14, 2025Â letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, alleging that James may have falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government-backed assistance and loans with more favorable terms.
• Pulte noted that mortgages for primary residences typically offer better rates and conditions than those for second homes or investment properties. James’s HAMP loan and her claim of marriage to her father were also cited by Pulte for investigation.
• James’s explanation, that she is a “good aunt†merely helping her niece and her children â€" is now facing deeper scrutiny. While her words evoked images of needy young children, the facts paint a more troubling picture.
• Letitia James’s niece, Shamice Thompson-Hairston, was 53 years old at the time of the home purchase. Two of her children â€" whom James’s statement implied were minors â€" are both adults, and both have significant criminal histories.
• Shamice Hairston’s adult daughter, Cayla Hairston was born on August 20, 2004. She was 20 years old when Letitia James purchased 604 Sterling Street in Norfolk, Virginia and claimed it would be her primary residence.
• Cayla Hairston has multiple arrests on her record, including a felony charge for violating Virginia’s law prohibiting firearm possession by convicted felons (Virginia Code §18.2-308.2) and felon in possession. This indicates that Cayla must have had a prior felony conviction, likely when she was under 18 because no records are available online.
• Cayla was also charged with making a false statement on criminal history consent form when purchasing a firearm, and this is a serious offense. This form is required by Virginia law for individuals purchasing firearms from dealers. If a person willfully and intentionally makes a materially false statement on this form, they are guilty of a Class 5 felony, which can result in up to 10 years of imprisonment
• Cayla was arrested again in June 2024 for grand larceny, a charge later reduced to petit larceny. She received a suspended jail sentence and was fined $539.
• Even more concerning is Shamice’s 36 year old daughter, Nakia Monique Thompson, born in February 1989. Her crimes span 20 years in the states of Virginia and North Carolina, and include multiple prison sentences and convictions for: contributing to delinquency of a minor, abuse of child, possession of burglary tools, third degree larceny, grand larceny, assault and battery, petty larceny, trespassing, shoplifting, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Supreme Court Reins in Judges A little Bit in Latest Ruling

• The US Supreme Court on Thursday in an 8-0 ruling reined in judges just a little bit as rogue judges wage a war on the Trump Administration.

• The high court limited judicial review in cases related to energy and transportation projects and infrastructure.
• At issue was the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) â€" a decades-old law that opened the door for the left to paralyze economic development by blocking projects over ‘environmental’ concerns.
• Far-left environmental groups have used NEPA to stop the expansion of oil refineries and other important energy projects.

During Thursday’s White House press briefing, Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway had the opportunity to ask Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt about how the administration intends to rein in “rogue lower court judges†grinding the administration’s policies to a halt with overreaching injunctions and temporary restraining orders. North Sea Oil Producer Slams The UK's Windfall Tax

The chief executive of Enquest criticizes the UK's Energy Profits Levy, claiming it is doing "irreversible damage" to the oil and gas industry and discouraging investment.

Due to the heavy tax burden, the company is planning a "disciplined approach" to investment and expects to pay a significant amount in windfall tax in June 2025.

Enquest argues that the UK is the only country levying a windfall tax on its domestic energy producers where no windfall profits exist, further impacting competitiveness.

The boss of Enquest has slammed the windfall tax on oil and gas firms as doing “irreversible damage” to the industry and “driving job losses across the sector”.

It is designed to tax the extra profits these companies made due to surging energy prices after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Initially, the rate was 25 per cent, but it later jumped to 35 per cent in January 2023.

Energy Costs Now ‘Main Issue’ For US Ally That Barred Nuclear Power

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said high energy costs are the most critical economic issue for her country 

Italy has embraced green energy and enacted a ban on nuclear power that has lasted nearly 40 years, though the nation’s Council of Ministers and Meloni have recently moved to reintroduce the technology, joining other European countries like Belgium, Denmark and Germany that are also reconsidering their turns away from nuclear power. Emanuele Orsini — the head of Italy’s largest business lobby — called for Meloni to cut energy costs and pave the way for a return to nuclear energy at the annual assembly for Confindustria, where Meloni again acknowledged her country’s energy problems, Reuters reported.

“Our companies continue to suffer from an energy (price) surcharge of more than 35% over the European average, even reaching peaks of 80% when compared to the largest European countries,” Orsini said at the assembly, according to Reuters.

Meloni has expressed support for expanding nuclear energy in Italy, as have other officials, including the Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin.

US Consumers Now More Optimistic, Ending 5 Straight Months Of Decline In Confidence Index

U.S. consumer confidence bounced back in May ending five straight months of decline and beating economists’ expectations.

The Consumer Confidence Index increased by 12.3 points in May to 98.0, up from 85.7 in April, according to a report released Tuesday by The Conference Board. This notably marked the first increase in consumer confidence in five months.

The Conference Board’s Present Situation Index, which is based on consumers’ outlook on current business and job market conditions, increased 4.8 points in May to 135.9. Meanwhile, the Expectations Index, which is based on consumers’ short-term outlook for income, business and job market conditions, jumped 17.4 points to 72.8 in the same month.

Of course, the global establishment has enriched itself on the current system of “free trade.” So you must look closely to find positive reporting from the establishment media on the effects of Trump’s tariffs.

According to Bloomberg, the economic advisory firm Oxford Economics calculated last week that the new Canadian government under Prime Minister Mark Carney has quietly adopted a conciliatory approach in the wake of Trump’s aggressive tariff policies, resulting in a minuscule tariff increase of “nearly zero” on most U.S. products entering Canada.

Tony Stillo, Oxford’s director of Canada economics, explained.

“It’s a very strategic approach from a new prime minister to really say, ‘We’re not going to have a retaliation,’” Stillo said in an interview. “It’s a strategic play on the government’s part to not damage the Canadian economy.”

 

In March, the Canadian government retaliated against Trump’s tariffs by imposing its own 25 percent import taxes. Those taxes affected roughly $43 billion worth of American-made imports.

Then, another round of Canadian tariffs hit U.S.-made autos in April.

A series of exemptions from Carney’s government, however, have effectively reduced those tariff increases to “nearly zero.”

And that represents a significant victory for Trump.

Judge Says Tariffs Are Authorized By Emergency Powers Act In Win For Trump

Oil Prices Dip On Report Of Another Potential OPEC+ Supply Boost  

OPEC+ is considering a third straight monthly output hike, departing from the norm of stabilizing oil markets. According to Bloomberg, the group of 12 major oil-exporting nations, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, and others, is considering a July increase of 411,000 barrels per day (bpd)—roughly triple the previously planned amount. This would mirror supply increases in May and June. Such an increase in July could lead to a breakdown in Brent crude's $60-per-barrel price floor (as long as the war risk premium remains suppressed).

Brent fell to $63 a barrel, down about 1.7% following the news. West Texas Intermediate dropped to around $60 a barrel.

90% Of US Companies Plan To Reshore Amid Tariffs, Allianz Survey Finds

Nine out of 10 U.S. companies say they expect to bring some or all of their production or sourcing back home in response to new tariffs imposed under President Donald Trump’s trade policy, according to the latest Allianz Trade Global Survey.

The survey, published on May 20, hints at an acceleration in reshoring efforts as U.S.

The bipartisan bill will create a tax deduction of up to $25,000 for cash tips reported to employers by workers for withholding purposes on payroll taxes, with a cap on the salary for eligible workers at $160,000 annually, the report makes 

The bill senators passed now goes to the House, where Republicans have been seeking to include a version of the proposal in their sweeping party-line package for Trump’s agenda.

“Whether it passes free-standing or as part of the bigger bill, one way or another, ‘No Tax on Tips’ is going to become law and give real relief to hard-working Americans,” Cruz said on the floor.
