What appears real can live inside a portrait. While not all portraits represent life accurately, Crystal Lina is true to her name. An artist who lives with bats, frogs, snakes and koala’s, living a cookie-cutter lifestyle was never an option. She tells all about growing up wearing a mask, feeling misunderstood, not fitting in, and her transformation after removing it and loving herself. As the founder of Syndrome Without A Name Portraits for children in palliative care, her passion for creating positive change in the lives of others is a gift to the families involved. 

We talked about mindset, trauma, the superpower of intuition, self-love, boundaries, affirmations, parenthood, feeling energy, self-worth and anxiety. 

Not everyone knows what’s happening on the inside of us. Sometimes the pain of staying stuck is greater than pain of moving forward. The only moment you will ever have is now. Choose this moment.

The Choices We Make. Rewind back to 2012 for Kathy Leckey. Her life turned upside down. She lost her family business, home, and husband at the time when he was sentenced to prison shortly thereafter. What may have been the darkest time continued on in her new relationships. Until the day she would not live a victim anymore. She had a choice. With great tragedy comes greatness. 

We talked about childhood healing and the inner work, self-love and loving yourself, the search for a relationship, connection over convenience, toxic relationships and co-dependency.

Whatever you are going through, and how terribly disruptful it seems, your life will change. It may be your darkest day today. You may not realize it yet but this will become a blessing tomorrow. You will look back at those dark times and be grateful for them making you who you become. It's the people and situation that were not kind to you that you will appreciate the most. Clee Stacy is one of my favorite humans I know. As a life coach in the UK and a student of life, she has undergone a massive transformation. The need for drama was a fix in the past that led to depression and suicidal thoughts. While many life coaches choose to edit themselves to fit the mold, Clee is too busy delivering nonstop, authentic vulnerability to worry about how it should be. She chooses to live in the now while helping female freelancers stop procrastinating.

In a culture where relationships have a convenience of one type meaning, or seasonal love, I was very excited to discuss the connection of two with Sheri St Marie. A masterful wordsmith who commands control of her audience, she shares her past trauma in a marriage, and the journey into finding her greatest love. Herself. 

We talked about trauma, personal development and doing the work, self-care and love, self-responsibility, today’s culture as a disruptor, and connection over convenience. 

We can spend a lifetime working on avoiding ourselves or we can work on ourselves for a lifetime. Commitment to yourself leads to a meaningful life and everyone it involves. Sean Hykey and I met through a Gary Vee Instagram post. He was relentless in positive responses to what seemed like hundreds of people commenting on Gary’s post. So I DM’d him. And we became friends. His content was undeniably vulnerable, inspirational, motivational and pure. Everything keto, fit, rapping, and positivity. How was he this comfortable with himself? Spending time with yourself borders confinement in prison. It removes all distraction where you are left with nothing but yourself. For Sean, it was just that. It took time in prison blocking out all the noise to understand his purpose in life. Growing up, selling drugs was cool. So was school. Selling ounces of weed per day with perfect attendance in high school provided the perfect contrast until years later it caught up.

We talked about purpose, self-worth and being a worthy person, distractions, habits and the people we choose to surround ourself with, transformation, life during and after prison, Body by Jake, fitness, becoming a man, mindset, gift of connection, self-love, motivation, affirmations, the genuine life, and waking up knowing every day that you have to grind twice as hard now in order to get where you want to be due to your past.

How fitting this was my first REMOTE podcast. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather spend time with. We are all nothing more than regular human beings with mistakes in our past. Becoming a better version of ourself every day, we can be worthy of more than a criminal. Leaving a lot on the table of what could be accomplished, this is by no means an excuse. While not all of us have lived in prison, many of us live in one mentally. If you decide to give up and do nothing then that part of you might as well stay in prison. In your comfort zone, you’re locked up. Returning is being institutionalized.

And so this bubble refused to pop. Chantel Soumis looks back at her younger self. Alone. No friends. A life filled with anxiety and depression. Even with multiple suicide attempts, dying was just not an option. Hitting rock bottom, Multiple Sclerosis took her vision, ability to walk and hear effectively after giving birth. Chronic depression carried on until she discovered her purpose. Being a mom. Neuroscience, diet, quantum physics and energy manipulation changed her world. Her old self disappeared.

We talked about the girl she was from years ago, feeling so sad for her for having zero self-love and filled with self-hate, authentic connection, sexual attacks, shame, sexual advances from higher-up executives in order to win business, law of attraction, rebuilding a life, disruption, energy depletion and spoonies, fascination with magic and being yourself, taking control of your thoughts, self-worth and loving yourself.

It was about a month ago where Melanie Ruelas first posted about her childhood and growing up in a trailer. Up until then, it was something she was embarrassed about and never discussed. As a young girl, she was one of six living in a trailer. At 16, she was a high-school student carrying a backpack and a baby. At 19, she was a bank teller and single mom of two, a college student and on her own. Today, she accepts who she is.

We talked about growing up in a trailer, feeling embarrassed of her upbringing, embracing life, the impact of sharing our struggles, transformation and figuring herself out, the life timeline of when and who we are supposed to be, outgrowing relationships, single-mom life with three kids, fighting over money and budgeting, serving as a volunteer firefighter, online dating, showing up and being present, going outside your comfort zone, age and awareness, baptism and the risk of posting religion, self-care, marriage of one and losing yourself, boundaries and reflection.

We all have our trailer stories. What Melanie doesn’t have is phone notifications. She chooses to be available to herself first and she chooses happiness. You will always catch her wearing a smile and loving herself. Our life becomes a staircase to move upwards and build on who we are. In a world of convenience, she has climbed up and found true connection.

Rewind back this life for Zoe-Anna Bell. All that was missing for her was feeling loved, feeling good enough and feeling accepted. It took years of learning what her NO was after feeling scared inside. She feared rejection and abandonment. Her partners reflected those exact things back. During that time, she experienced physical trauma, emotional, psychological and sexual trauma.

Today as a Relationship and Intimacy Coach, Author and Speaker, she is helping us heal trauma, ignite our energy, access our raw, feminine and masculine power, everything from pushups and poetry to lingam and yoni love. 

We talked about the numbness constant state of being, recreating relationships with different partners, being present, meditation, inner work, shift of awareness, toxic relationships, channeling energy, TABOO subjects, the art of silence, our love for Wim Hof, codependency and self-worth, celibacy and abstinence, reclaiming sovereignty, intentions, awakening others, purpose, cultural shift in relationships, intimacy sessions, and healing and transformation.

During our conversation we lost the camera feed, power and batteries. How ironic. Perhaps our talk was too controversial. In the parallels of online dating and the porn industry, they’re perfectly orchestrated to create shame, blame, and guilt in keeping things in disconnection from true connection. We are disrupting these industries today. The only form of rejection should be from toxicity.

TECHNOLOGY CAN’T FIX RELATIONSHIPS. THERAPY CAN.

Matt Chirdon and I have known each other since 1983. Thirty-seven years and going strong. By the time we were in Kindergarten, we were already long-time friends and the relationship has continued from there. 

We talked about the forbidden world of online dating, and the guide from A to STD inside a 3 billion dollar a year industry, therapy inside a marriage and the struggles leading up to, balancing checks and balancing life within a marriage with discrepancies between partners, expectations from a simple hello, rotary phone syndrome, and the journey in finding connection and the true meaning of intimacy.
