Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio!
Eastern Michigan finished its first week of practices, and the team finally got to dress in full pads for Monday’s practice. The team is still looking for clarity in certain spots around the field, but overall it has plenty of answers (and options) to keep the team competitive on both sides of the ball this year.
That said, there needs to be some tempered expectations at positions that will feature first-year starters with the team. Mainly, I’m looking at quarterback, tight end, defensive end, and kicker. Still, I think this team looks really solid at wide receiver, linebacker, and interior defensive line.
Also, last week EMU reached a new height on the recruiting trail. This unofficial title didn’t last long, but EMU still got to see itself as having the MAC’s #1 recruiting class for the current cycle. That moment has since passed and EMU stands as having the #4 class in the MAC, but it was still a first for a program that doesn’t usually recruit to that level.

Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio!
Eastern Michigan'‘s football practices will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, so let’s get a little preview in our lives.
But first, a MAC Media Day dispatch. I talked with EMU head coach Chris Creighton to talk about his team, talked to WR Hassan Beydoun and DE Jose Ramirez about their outlooks on the team, and had another sit-down with Toledo AD Bryan Blair.
To close the episode, I want to run through eight or so names of underclassmen that I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for at practices.
Y11 stories mentioned this episode:
* A general MAC Media Day recap
* EMU’s preseason depth chart
* Two EMU players out for the year, injured

Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio!
MAC Media Day is tomorrow in sunny (maybe) Cleveland, Ohio, which means preseason picks from the media + coaches will go public. So, what are my picks (note: I wasn’t part of the MAC’s media poll this year), and what does a MAC West-winning year look like for the Eastern Michigan Eagles?
We’ll chat again after the festivities at the Cleveland House of Blues tomorrow.

Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio!
Personally, I (Alex) just moved back to Ypsilanti, so it’s been nice to record this podcast in its rightful home of Y11HQ.
Football season, I swear, is right around the corner. Media days are upon us but I have one big question for you. What are you looking forward to this year?
I love so much about college football, I couldn’t just narrow my answer down to one or two things. Let’s look across the country and across the MAC and find some rooting interests. As for EMU, I’m excited to see the new quarterback and linebacker situations, and will the defense see improvement if one of its key players is healthy enough to play in 2022?

Welcome to The Ypsilanti Eleven!
And an even bigger welcome to this newsletter’s new podcast: Y11 Audio!
This podcast couldn’t have come at a better time to start. I mean that half-sarcastically. I’m currently in the middle of packing my things and moving to Ypsilanti! By the time you hear this introductory episode, I’ll already have my microphone and other audio equipment packed and ready to transport over to Ypsi, where this newsletter & show will be rightfully (and finally) headquartered.
On this intro-sode, I talk a little more about all of that, and break down what you should expect out of me. Hint: it’s in the name.
