Trailer. A mysterious pandemic wiped out most of humanity two decades ago and we've been living an illusion ever since. Y2K REDUX revisits the Year 2000 through the microphones of the Canadian shortwave station Toonie Radio as the apocalypse unfolds.
Episode 3. In the first working day of the year 2000, the apocalyptic leader Ezekiel tries to rally people into his cult, luring even Kenneth. Roxie continues her saga in Mexico. Luke and Monique present the grim news of the collapse of technology, society and human health, but promise to keep the public informed as long as the station can run. Ironically, the outdated technology of Toonie Radio allows it to remain on the air as the grim future arrives.
Episode 2. Reminiscent of disaster films or the radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds", Roxie narrates the chaotic events in Mexico as they unfold on January 1st, 2000. Roxie and Eligio Melgar, an expert in Aztec mythology, go on a journey throughout Mexico and try to enter the USA.
Meanwhile in Canada, dozens of people in Toronto fall into a coma. A possible explanation is tainted alcohol. Another one is the appearance of a new and powerful virus causing a pandemic.
Episode 1. The Toronto shortwave station Toonie Radio broadcasts a special show on December 31, 1999 to receive the year 2000 and keep the audience updated on the massive celebrations in Canada and around the world. Luke also talks to other Toonie Radio colleagues reporting from the field, such as Roxie Gibson, a New Age specialist visiting the Teotihuacan pyramids in Mexico.
