In Part 1, Mayor Hill summarizes his employment history, as well as his extensive involvement with community organizations, boards, and state wide non-profits (including McMinnville Downtown Association, McMinnville Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Yamhill County, Library Foundation, Oregon Partnership, American Lung Association). He also summarizes his work in McMinnville government, starting in 1994 when he was asked to join the budget committee. He also talks about liveability

In Part 2, Mayor Hill lays out 6 priority areas for McMinnville (jobs, safety, livability, equity/diversity/inclusion, taxes, partnerships); he discusses the city’s recent Strategic Plan, economic development, and the issue of supply and demand relating to land, housing and the UGB.

In Part 3, the Mayor discusses myths about taxation, some of what the city has done and is planning to do relating to inclusion and diversity issues, and also some of the steps the city has take toward more equitable policing. Finally, he talks about a few things people can do to support his campaign for re-election.

In Part 1, Kellie discusses some of her history on the Council, including starting the audit committee, as well as her work with the “What Do You Think” campaign, City Fair, transportation bond, Bypass committee, and more. In Part 2 she talks about some of the city’s efforts to help residents and businesses during the Covid pandemic, including the hoteling program, business grants, etc. She also details some of the city’s history with the Fire Department, and what is currently being considered to improve the funding issues. In Part 3, Kellie discusses some of the city’s past and ongoing responses to the homeless issue.

In Part 1 Casey discusses some of what he has done to get discussions going about housing needs in the county. In Part 2, he goes through the history of the rail line, recent history about the trail, and the current status. He also discusses some takeaways from an interesting study about social cohesion. In Part 3 we have a brief discussion about some of the ways community members can get involved with planning at the county level (hint: join committees!)

Intro: elections do make a difference, as we’ve seen from having an incompetent leader. In Part 1 we discuss the need for an active and informed citizenry, how media literacy plays a role, and the need for stopping narrowly focused factions from taking over in elections. In Part 2, we run through many actions that people can take to help candidates this election season. In Part 3 we discuss the need to balance positivity (lifting up a preferred candidate) with negativity (pointing out when candidates lack experience, judgment, etc.) , particularly as it relates to qualifications needed to be a public servant.
