The Texas Rangers were seeking a sweep of the New York Yankees after two nail-biting wins Aug. 4-5. Jack Leiter took the mound, looking to build of his recent trend of more strikeouts, but the offense would be challenged against a left-hander, Carlos Rodon. A series win is what the doctor ordered after a 2-5 road trip last week. Leiter was hoping to match Nathan Eovaldi, who on Tuesday took advantage of his variety of pitches and changes in speed to toss eight scoreless innings on one hit. Up next is an off day followed by a three-game series against the Phillies. Josh Jung should be able to play third base.
