Race and ethnicity are not a one size fits all experience and being Asian American is a privilege that comes with its own fair share of identity crises and self exploration. With a mixed bag of cultures and heritage, this episode explores our experiences growing up Asian American in Hawaii, New York and Los Angeles. 

Who who do you love? While we could talk about this topic for hours, this episode provides a birds eye view into our current relationship status, experiences dating throughout different stages in our life and on a lighter note, physical and non-physical deal breakers. Between dating apps and mutual friends, everyone has a different way of looking for ‘the one’.

The transition from college to the ‘real world’ can sometimes feel like something we were never prepared for. Without tests, exams and assignments to be completed, our careers and work become big factors in our current day to day life. With experience in media, marketing and finance, we discuss our priorities and goals as Yappie’s.

As young adults no longer in school with friends around the globe, it's not surprising that our social circles may be shrinking. But at some point in time we were all strangers to start. This episode explores our current friendship as well as other friendships we’ve fostered, lost and made throughout the years.

Both adopted from China, Mia and Leah explore their upbringing as adopted Asian Americans raised in white families. How did this aspect of their identity shape their childhood, young adulthood and perception of being ‘Asian’? How do they currently fit into the traditional idea of an ‘Asian American’? This episode discusses these questions alongside experiences and anecdotes as adoptees.

Welcome to Yappie Hour. It's Mia, Leah and Cat, here. We're what you'd call "Yappies" meaning: young Asian professionals. We started this podcast because we wanted to have a space to have weekly discussions about what's going on in our lives. We'll be discussing everything from work to relationships to adoption.
