Yay, Dude! A Hey Dude Rewatch Podcast

It's been a couple of months since we returned from our magical weekend in Los Angeles at what would have been Splatcon if Splatcon hadn't been canceled the MORNING OF the event via one Instagram post. But some incredible and kind women we're lucky enough to know helped flip this event for us into a childhood dream come true. We recap it here and discuss some plans for Season 5, which is just around the corner.

We are heartbroken by the devastation in this city that welcomed us for such a beautiful weekend just a couple of months ago, and even more so for the kind and hard-working people in LA who are suffering. If you are in a position to help and feel inclined, check out the Wildfire Recovery Fund at https://www.calfund.org/funds/wildfire-recovery-fund/. If you are in LA, stay safe.

Warning: We say some bad words sometimes on this show.

Before we launch into season 5 and the very exciting things to come, Jess and T sit down to watch Speed! Prost, Graham Yost--what a fun and wild ride. We also make our most plausible guess about Joe Torres's whereabouts, and we might just be right.

Escape with us into the literary cumulous clouds in this re-read of "Showdown at the Bar None." We're checking in from our hiatus with a delightful episode centered around Bonnie Worth's nostalgic 1990s novella. This book adds layers to our understanding of our favorite ranch teens and was a general hoot to read. We're proudly asking for an 'A' on our book report. Tune in for a fun and heartfelt discussion while we eagerly await our season five return.

We can't believe it, but it's already time for the season 4 finale! The whole gang (minus Lucy) is on the ranch now--basically there are teens EVERYWHERE. Find out what happens when Ted and Melody miss the fact that their fellow teens' plots to kill Mr. Ernst are not, in fact, earnest, but rather a brilliant money-making scheme for the ranch. Jess takes us on a wiki-etymology-ish adventure, and Teresa shares the embarrassing story that caused her to move to outer space.

When money troubles come calling again (to the Bar None switchboard), a familiar face might be the key to solving all of Mr. Ernst's woes. Prost Graham Yost? Decide for yourself. Also, is Mr. Peanut wealthy?

This week's episode has a temporarily blind Mr. Ernst trying to hit on his nephew whom he mistakes for a ranch critic. Jake ropes Danny into doing drag with him to try to save his job after he flips a burger in a lady's face, and boy can those two pull it off! Note: it took us about a month to make this one because Teresa had some "technical difficulties," so it's a couple of takes stitched together.

Oh boy. The Vlecks are back. Jess and T did a lot of Googling random things to avoid watching this one. Look, we LOVE Hey Dude, but Val Vleck comes in a little hot. And she tries to heat things up even more with Mr. Ernst to make Vick jealous. Thankfully Jake is studying psychology.

In this week's episode, Danny helps everyone on the ranch learn what it means to do the right thing (what? That's the title of the episode!) when an archeologist comes to town with his trowel and uncovers remains from Danny's ancestors. There's also some levity as Jake and Buddy go hunting for a lake monster. This was a very special episode to say the least.

Ted's back. I don't really think we need to say much more than that.

We blew it! This is the episode we should have released last week, but we were just TOO excited about Ted returning. But before that can happen, Kyle needs to remind us why you can't just cut Ted in half. We really identify with Mr. Ernst in this one as he deals with a midlife existential crisis. Thankfully, the girls know just how to cheer him up.
