Local artisan workshop Lavorazione Artistica Metallo opened up during the Milan design week, and proved to be a very refreshing visit after seeing hundreds of chairs and tables. Amorphic Robot Works directed by the American artist Chico MacMurtie has built more than two-hundred of them in the past fifteen years. MacMurtrie discovered and is actually currently exploring the possibilities of lightweight synthetics, plastics, and injection moulded joints. The result is a series of extremely lightweight robots: Inflatable Bodies. They do not only refer to human and animal bones, but to muscles as well.
