Whats up folks! Finally...an episode about movies... in today's show we unpack all things "Emma" with it's director Autumn de Wilde. In honor of the recent 1 year anniversary of the Emma release, Autumn and I nerd out about the creative process of the film, character development, reviving the period piece genre, and what we can expect to see next from her. On the music side we feature new tunes from Silk Sonic, Laya, Brent Faiyaz, Mndsgn, Solange, Vegyn, St. Vincent and a whole lot more. Please enjoy, and as always if you dig the episode, support the show!
Hello and happy Thursday everyone, I’m back with another edition of Yeah Free Radio. In this episode I chat with Nick and Navi, a gifted, twin sister duo from the south side of Chicago specializing in a unique brand of r&b dancehall. We shared a very fun and funny conversation about their origin story, the year 2020 and how its affected their careers, whats next for them musically, as well as a 90’s r&b conversation that leads to some really interesting anecdotes.
On the dj side of things I get into an eclectic opening mix of new tunes and deep cut gems, a mid to late 90s r&b deep dive, and I finish off the episode with a tribute to one of my favorite albums of all time that just turned 21 years old this month. I have a good feeling you guys will enjoy episode 5, and if such is the case and you like what you heard, please consider supporting the show with a friendly donation. Also be sure to like, subscribe, share and leave a review!
Happy 2021 from Yeah Free Radio! I’m kicking off the year with one my artists to watch, Nez. I chat with the Chi-town native about his musical upbringing, the journey from producer to artist, directing music videos and plenty more. Our second guest is Nez’s creative director Bobby. We discuss his aesthetic approach, his love for 90s rave culture and what types of music fuels his work.
For the music portion we feature some new tunes from Jazmine Sullivan, Tom Misch, Brijean, Dirty Projectors and more…also later in the show I get into a techno, house and drum n bass mix that you don't wanna miss. Check it out, and as always if you enjoy the episode, support the show!

As this hellish nightmare called 2020 comes to a close, I'm slowly making my rounds with all of my favorite art of the year. My first stop is with the favorite album of the past 365, Nick Hakim's sophomore release, WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD. For our 2nd episode (yes, we made it!) I revisit a conversation with Andrew Sarlo (@sarloson) co-producer of WTMMG from this past summer, during the peak of unrest throughout the nation. We took a deep look under the hood of the project and unpack some of the themes behind the record, stories of the album process, and favorite memories/takeaways from the 2 years they spent working together on it. I also play some new tunes I'm jamming, some of my favorite cuts from WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD, and later in the episode I feature a dj mix dedicated to one of the greatest musical subgenres, Lovers Rock. All this and more can be found in todays episode, please listen and enjoy and as always..If you enjoy the mix, be sure to support the dj!
