Carolyn McCann is the sole reason I passed chemistry in high school, but that is not why she is on this episode. Carolyn is an effort expert, because I have never seen someone with so much drive a determination. The coolest thing about Carolyn, is that drive and motivation comes from herself. We have been pals since the dawn of time, aka 2003. We met on a swim team, and she continued on to swim at Michigan, then completed her high education at Stanford. Right now she works as an engineer, and she goes into the interesting aspects of it that I am personally oblivious to. Carolyn sends some silly texts with a dice deciding the recipient, and it is hilarious!! Carolyn's choses cause is Be The Match, which is a database that connects bone marrow matches for medical care. She does a MUCH better job of explaining :-)
Lily and I started being friends in middle school, and have never drifted too far apart since today. She works as a nurse, and lives in Colorado. Lily was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and kicked its ass, but had the most admirable outlook through the process, and discussing it with her on this episode was really special to me. Lily is one of the most radiant and kind people I know, and she has such a refreshing outlook on life. She is what she likes to call... "just super chill".
This episode was really fun to make with Allie, because she is one of the most loving people in my life and hearing how she has managed the grief she has experienced made me sure of that even more. Allie and I talk about the experience of losing a loved one, and how it impacts the world around you. Allie completes a values assessment, which to me can be a huge determining factor in motivation and... will to live. Allie finds out the things that motivate her subconscious and I think many people will resonate with the way she responded. Go check it out and let me know what you think! :-)
Jackson and Clay have been integral parts of my life at a variety of different milestones, and they mean a lot to me as individuals. The effortless banter between us is so damn funny, but their insight on what discuss is very profound. We discuss divorce, anger and sibling interactions. They also complete a "distress tolerance" skill, that is fantastic to use in moments of high anxiety or anger, as well as any other emotion you may be feeling more than is appropriate. I also read some questions from listeners! We asked what people used to do to annoy their siblings, as well as what some pros and cons are to having divorced parents.
Michelle and I go waaaay back to high school, even though its not that far back because we are still young and fun. She went down a path of entertainment and has had success in TV and Film, my favorite was her recurring role on Satisfaction, it was on USA and it was great!!! Shes the sweetest girl on the planet, and I just want to know how her brain works a bit. We look at her drawing of a person standing in the rain, and its super cool the results we find!
My friend Drew works as a Pipeline Integrity Analyst, and double majored at University of Utah in Geography as well as Environmental and Sustainability Studies. He knows a lot about a lot, and so do I, so our minds made this special podcast episode to talk about how to help the earth! I also did a projective assessment with Drew, and analyzed some of his artistic creations through a psychological filter. Drew completes a projective assessment, which is a reflection of your subconscious mind. The H-T-P Test, or the House Tree Person, test is super interesting. If you havent listened already, quickly draw those three things yourself! I might look at some pictures and talk about them.
