Welcome to 2025! First episode of the year as is tradition I sit down with my brother Martyn and this time his Partner Amy  @AlternativeAdventures  as we discuss the state of online and what really is "cool" when it comes to an online database of content.

Is it slang and constant clout being shown off? Is it just a database of information? Is this just a man in his late thirties complaining about how he's struggling to find content he connects with? It could be all of the above!

Bad is subjective but throwing out a whole things because of one aspect of what you were expecting to me seems like madness? Maybe I'm becoming the poster child of middle ground but I think you can enjoy much more in life if you embrace the things which change your view and expectations.

There are a couple of guests on the podcast who have been back many times. Pinch is one of them. We met many years ago at a women in the arts event in Lincoln and since have continued to swap and share stories and tales with one another in personal and professional capacity. We in fact last sat down to do this three years ago!

Since then Lauren has gone "full time artist" and settled into the role of being a creative painter exploring the business and personal side in art and what that means to them. Call it a bad habit, call me an enabler but it seems everyone I meet i encourage to make something. This could be a fundamental flaw in myself but if I have a goal that goal is to convince everyone to explore creating.

This is not to say everyone could and should be an artist but there is nothing stopping you exploring putting pencil to pad, paper to paper or baked good in a bowl to discover the fun of invention though creation so lets talk about my history of that and how talking to me can be somewhat dangerous for your free time.

This week I get to chat to an enigma. Comic artist of 'The other end comics' Neil Kohney has been popping up on my instagram feed for a while and no doubt you have seen his work! He create comic strips which subvert expectation and jump from extreme to extreme.

This week I sit down to talk about you! Finding and audience for your work can be hard and everyone and their aunty is out there telling you how to build and grow your views and clicks. So this week I sit down to talk about the other side of it.

What about the fear of actually having one? Being held to account and needing to be kept in line because your audience begins dictating what you can and cannot make? I think this is something which stops artists and even myself promoting our work to the nth degree as we worry about losing that freedom to just make.

This week i sit down with NY based musician, artist, creator and overall legend which is  @ItsKavi . Who I met a couple years back and has in the last few months become quickly someone I wanted to collaborate with and get to know more.

Kevin or Kavi as he's known is a ball of creation working in improvisational word play, music and visual art and really shares a lot of ethics when it comes to making art that I do which is great to find and why I wanted to catch up with him in the first place. This week we talk money and how the in reality these investments in art "art" are really short sighted financially. By alienating the creative user base companies are going to quickly find themselves in the process of needing unique ideas. Something AI cannot generate without theft.

There is also the question of financial return. If you invest a few thousand in an art art engine and then need people to maintain and manufacture within it you're going to quickly get replicated, packaged and need to work near constantly to stay ahead but what happens if you spend a couple grand on an individual? So make a one off? To make a unique piece you can profit on for hundreds of years?

Lets talk about that.

This week i sit down with good friend of mine Emma Louhglin! Emma and I have known each other for a few years now and actually did the terrible dangerous thing of chatting via the internet first when i was streaming throughout the pandemic! Turns out we ended up living in the same area but she is in her own right a talented marketing manager working in New York within the music scene!

This week we focus on the big questions the non trivial internet answers. What happens when your mind is so focused on small arguments that you expunge your energy and thoughts into the simple idea of putting a fruit on a pie?

I tend not to get dragged into internet arguments, even in real life i avoid these kinds of asks because I have other things to focus on. Bigger questions I want answers too like Just where is Carmen Sandiego. So lets explore. Explore the energy you spend on the correct pronunciation of Scone, the idea of Pineapple on Pizza and who makes the best bagel and instead just say ok. Now lets move on.
