Fair warning there is some chatter and discussion this week! As I headed off to see The The in Montreal, I, with the help of some guests, brought you a show reflecting on larger musical culture. Madison joined me as we paid tribute to One Direction's Liam Payne in the wake of his tragic early passing, and discussed celebrity culture and the pressures in the music industry and public eye. ALT BLK ERA are a rising heavy rock sibling duo from Nottingham, made up of sisters Nyrobi and Chaya. In just a few short years, the band have been making a name for themselves as a young, genre-defying band making music that fans from all backgrounds have found has changed their lives.

In the lead up to their debut album ‘Rave Immortal’ that comes out in January, we talked about their genre-blending music, breakout singles, playing Reading and Leeds festival, headlining the BBC Introducing Stage, having Wheatus as fans (!) and how their music is connecting with thousands of fans across the age divide. We have their brand-new single for you tonight, Come On Outside!

The Faroe Islands' 'second-ever punk band' Joe & the Shitboys have been making a major racquet for a band whose average song runs for 40 seconds. The four-piece, who describe themselves as 'bisexual vegan shitpunks' and go onstage by the last names 'Shit', have a lot to say in their music, and their no-holds-barred approach to punk has earned them firm fans across the globe: they have opened for the Hives, been firm favourites on BBC Radio 6 Music via their biggest fan, Iggy Pop, and they are back with their third album, THE RESON FOR HARDCORE VIBES III! Tune in to hear the lore behind the album's name and iconic imagery, as well as everything else about the band and album.
