The Clock of Life.
******************
"Iambic Tetrameter"
The clock of life is wound but once,
No man on earth has the power,
To tell just when the hands will seize
To move at late or early hour.
Now is the only time you own,
Live, love, toil and strive with a will,
But don't put trust on time unknown,
For clock might any time get still.
Make Best Use of Today.
**************************
"Sonnet"
Our yesterday belongs to past history,
All that has gone by is no more our own,
Whereas tomorrow is still a mystery,
Never should we rely on time unknown.
But then today alone is special gift,
As present is a nice present, we may say,
We should this present by all means uplift,
And cherish the nice present of today.
We should enjoy the best of life right now,
For it, too, has an expiration date,
We're subject to what nature's law endow,
Going through birth, growth, aging at fast rate.
Life is too short for trivial things to deal,
So cherish those that really do appeal.
Note: "Present" here is used as a pun, with two meanings "today" and "gift".
