My interview with Dr. Charles von Gunten was such a delightful experience. He shared the story of how he chose palliative care and how the nurses we worked with gently taught him to unlearn some of the standard practices of care that he had learned for other disciplines.
We discuss the difference between hospice and palliative care, as well as the hospice model and how different it is from other medical specialties. Why can't we treat patients with this kind of care in all areas of medicine?
And we talked about the beauty that can be seen and experienced in the death of a loved one. I've experienced that myself and we talk about that.
I hope you enjoy this discussion.
