Yoga and Mental Health with Julie Anderson - Episode 12
On this episode we chat with Amy Hardwick. Amy brings a huge wealth of knowledge to her classes at Olas, where she offers slow flow, gentle yoga, yin & reiki. Amy carries such a presence, allows her students to feel safe and supported. Her classes are clearly crafted with intelligence and experience.
We get into a conversation about how simple yet powerful reiki energy is, the different schools of thought around receiving permission to provide reiki and how cool it is that reiki can be offered remotely, and to anything and everything.
We loved this conversation! Sign up for Amy's Yin & Chakra Workshop on 2/27 at https://yogaolas.com/events
On episode 10, we connect with local Salida pastry chef and restaurateur Sarah Gartzman. Sarah

Welcome YO guide Abigail Smedly! Today we chat about the art of teaching yoga, leadership and what makes a good yoga teacher. Abigail shares her tips for teaching. We also chat about how important it is to use positive and empowering language when teaching, yummy arepas, whether we would rather give up yoga or sex, and how exciting it is as a mother to finally be able to run and exercise without peeing. Today we chat with local Salida lawyer and yogi Sarah Bernlohr. Sarah describes herself as an anxious lawyer who has been saved by yoga, movement and meditation. She moved to Howard in 2019, at which time she started her own law firm and completed Yoga Teacher training at Yoga Olas. She believes that YTT was the best way to deepen her yoga practice and to truly get to know the amazing people in this community! Sarah has been practicing yoga for 15 years, ever since she was required to take a weekly class for ballet training in high school. Over the years she has come to love yoga in its own right and not just as a complement to ballet training. It is now the aspects of yoga which are fundamentally different from ballet that Sarah loves the most. And although yoga holds the most special place in her heart, Sarah is devoted to many different types of movement for their physical, mental and emotional benefits--- from trail running to mountain biking to backpacking and skiing-- the list goes on. Sarah believes that movement and mindfulness allow her to show up as her authentic self in both her personal and professional relationships. She has been practicing law for six years and currently works primarily in the area of Child Welfare, with Dependency & Neglect Cases. Sarah represents children as a Guardian ad litem and indigent parents as Respondent Parent Counsel.
