Redemptive participation is a call for us to engage the world around us with a vision of the way of Jesus. We don't hate the world or protest against it, but rather, we contribute to the world by influencing the culture through redemptive participation.
Followers of Jesus are always called to live submitted to an alternate and higher authority, requiring deep trust in the sovereignty of God regardless of the circumstances.
Because Jesus made us God’s children through His death and resurrection, it follows that we will make an effort to become increasingly like Him in the midst of the prevailing culture.
Like Israel in their exile, we are citizens of another Kingdom, living in a land that may be hostile to the way of Jesus. Therefore, we are called to be a creative minority in the world.
The story of sin and redemption, while important, is only half the story. Rather, we are defined by God's good creation, the heartbreak of sin, the joy of redemption, and then the good work of restoration that was God's original plan for us.
The more you get, the more you want. Most of us live captive to a desire for more, and the only way to break free is for us to choose to limit what we have and to practice generosity. Freedom in the Kingdom of God includes being free from the desire for more.
If we are called to become like Jesus, that includes the way Jesus spoke… and didn’t speak. We are often unaware of how we use speech to manipulate people. By learning embrace silence, we deepen our confidence in God.
Simplicity is first a focus on a single thing or, in this case, a single person. What your life is centered around will define who you become, for better or for worse.
