In this conversation, I sit down with USA international Shubham Ranjane to explore a cricketing journey spanning family legacy, Indian domestic cricket, Major League Cricket and the international stage.
Shubham reflects on growing up in a three-generation cricketing family, representing Maharashtra, Mumbai and Goa, and becoming part of the Rajasthan Royals setup. He opens up about the uncertainty surrounding his career in India, the difficult decision to move to the United States and what it took to rebuild his life and cricket career in a new country.
We also discuss his rise through American cricket, his performances in Major League Cricket and the emotional moment he finally received his USA call-up.
The journey came full circle at the 2026 T20 World Cup when Shubham returned to Mumbai and made his T20I and World Cup debut against India at the Wankhede Stadium—this time wearing the USA jersey. He also takes us inside his maiden T20I half-century against Pakistan, where he scored 51 from 30 deliveries on one of cricket’s biggest stages.
Shubham also shares his perspective on batting in the middle order, developing his medium-pace bowling, playing as an all-rounder and what USA cricket must do to build sustainable international success.
This is a conversation about family legacy, difficult decisions, resilience and finding another route toward a dream when the original path does not unfold as expected.
