Christy Orman is the Director of the Cathedral Urban Service Experience, in Houston, Texas. CUSE's mission is to provide opportunities to serve persons who are being denied justice, peace, and dignity by their community, right here in Houston. Christy has had to pivot this year and restructure CUSE's traditional model and work toward finding new ways to serve others in the midst of quarantine. Madison and I met several years ago at Camp Allen where she was working as a counselor and I knew then she was going places - so I “friended” her on Instagram (and then lived vicariously through her adventures as she traveled the globe with reality television (Survivor/Shark Tank/the Bachelor/Master Chef, Jr.) Madison and her super fantastic husband Ivan started a new adventure with The Experiencer Project (a travel show - you should TOTALLY subscribe to them on YouTube!) Won’t it be fun to tag along with these two as they try all.the.things!?!?

Y’all I started following Molly Grayson’s Instagram two years ago. One night I just randomly sent her a text asking if she would be on my little podcast… and she said, “YES!” After just forty-five minutes on the phone with Molly, I came to understand a few things: a. she is a riot 2. we know good food/music and d. we are BOTH blessed and highly caffeinated. Molly is a wife, mother, singer/songwriter and talented baker (check out her Instagram feed each week for Sunday Bakes - you will laugh, learn and probably gain 2 pounds! But just two.) Come scooch up to the table for a generous serving of what new friends in Jesus love to talk about: food, family and the music that binds us together.

When you find yourself with Carver Mathis, you can be sure of a few things: There will be laughter, there will be music and you will be loved. This dear friend and I sat down today for a chat - after multiple attempts and technological difficulties - and when we were done I knew I had been to church. So swing by your local Starbucks and order Carver's favorite Medicine Ball (and if you've got the sniffles, I highly recommend adding 2 pumps of peppermint) and then sit back and allow this visit to fill you up. Because when he starts to sing... *all the praise hands go up!

When two ambiverts (one who is a hugger and one who is not) get to visit via ZOOM you get the best of both worlds (I felt totally hugged and she didn’t even have to touch me!) Today Kari visits with old friend Molly Carr the executive chef and kitchen pastor of St. Isidore, Episcopal. They have a whole new space; café, commercial kitchen, conference room, offices, warehouse and community garden. Today Kari chats with her friend Katherine Molina a 4th grade bilingual teacher and former youth leader lives in beautiful Buda, TX with her husband Raul and their sweet puppy, Oxford. Kat is passionate about teaching and helping kids reach their dreams and goals. She is the perfect person to talk with in our "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" season - as she inspires kids reach beyond the four walls of school and the screens of ZOOM during this interesting and challenging year!

Today we visit with my new friend and a "kindred spirit" for sure, Rachel Dodge. Her new book "The Anne of Green Gables Devotional: A Chapter-by-Chapter Companion for Kindred Spirits" hits stores in early November and we can't wait to get our hands on it. Our season "Oh, The Places You'll Go" has us dreaming of Prince Edward Island, for sure.
