A fun and colorful book.
A Trip to the Park by Thomas Strock.
Tomato Turtle is a well illustrated and entertaining story for young children.
Young Tomato is a content turtle but upon seeing human children playing at the play ground decides that he too should play the same games. Eventually he realizes he misses his turtle games and decides to return to the games he use to play. Tomatoe Turtle is a wonderful little book with a solid message. It is okay to try new things but often the result is the knowledge that the life you have is enough to keep you content and happy.
A Trip to the Park will no doubt become a favorite for your children or grandchildren. It is one of those books that I do not grow tired of reading even when my grand children request it again and again. A nice feature to this book is that each comes with an audio book download so that it can be listened to through the computer speakers or through a portable music device.
I received this book from the fourteen year old author, Thomas Strock, to review and was impressed to learn that not only is he a talented young man but is also an active advocate for autism research.
Tomato Turtle review by mom-[...]
A few weeks ago, I got a copy of "Tomato Turtle". I thought it was great, but I needed the real kid test: my 4 year old, Zoe. As I read it, she sat on my lap and smiled, applauded and pointed to the book. There are a few pages with the numbers 1 to 10, and my barely-speaking girl happily counted the numbers. I went through the book with her twice, and over the number pages several times. She loved it!
It's a simple story, with great illustrations, and very appropriate for preschoolers. I highly recommend you check out "Tomato Turtle" and order a copy to encourage a talented, aspiring author. I also hope that Thomas writes more "Tomato Turtle" books for my kids to read!
We love Tomato!!
I recently had the pleasure of receiving a copy of the children's book Tomato Turtle: A Trip to the Park by Thomas Strock.
Tomato Turtle: A Trip to the Park is an adorable story about a young turtle named Tomato who decides to try a few new things. Tomato thinks it might be fun to play the way children do, but ultimately decides it is always best to be true to his turtle ways. This book helps children understand that the grass is not always greener on the other side and that sometimes one must to try something new in order to realize that what they had all along was just fine. The writing is clear and concise and this book keeps younger children engaged in the story with its vivid illustrations.
Tomato Turtle is a new bedtime favorite in my household! My three and six year old children can't get enough of Tomato! Being less then 20 pages, it's the perfect bedtime story because it is lighthearted and a quick read for parents.
As an added bonus, every copy of this book includes an E-Live digital download for your computer or mp3 player. This is a wonderful feature for an early reader. It allows a child to follow along with the book while listening to the story by themselves.
