In moments of uncertainty, people don’t necessarily need certainty. They need steadiness. They need someone who can acknowledge the darkness without declaring it permanent.  

If we find ourselves in a tunnel with others, each time we choose language that keeps the second opening a real possibility, we build collective resilience.

A tunnel, by definition, has two openings. That is not vague optimism. It’s structure. If you are in a tunnel, there is an exit, even if you cannot see it at this time. What creates suffering is not the darkness itself. It’s the story that the darkness is permanent.

You may not know the way. But there is a way. Stay present long enough, and it will begin to show itself.

As I age, I become aware of a shift in my perspective on several aspects of life. That shift is not a different road; it’s more a clearer view of the path. Seeing things with more flavour and nuance. While the values, heart and spirit remain the same, I believe the perspective has widened and deepened.
