Derick Gonzalez joins the crew to pick Speed, leading everyone down a glorious rabbit hole of Keanu Reeves haircuts, Dennis Hopper doing his best Looney Tunes supervillain impression, and the eternal question: why is Sandra Bullock allowed to drive a bus? The gang breaks down the movie’s completely reasonable premise—a bus will explode if it drops below 50 mph—while marveling at how casually everyone in 1994 accepted that this was simply Keanu’s Tuesday. They debate whether Speed is basically Die Hard on a bus, discover that the original script was apparently even more ridiculous, and somehow spiral into Point Break, Gravity, The Blind Side, superheroes, Spider-Man, Batman, and whether Batman being rich makes him inherently less relatable. Along the way, they praise Keanu’s buzz cut, roast Sandra Bullock, question Dennis Hopper’s financial demands, and generally prove that watching a 30-year-old action movie is really just an excuse to argue about celebrities for an hour.

Liam Dalton finally picks a movie made before 1998 and, mercifully, he picks Goodfellas — which is basically the cinematic equivalent of bringing a loaded gun to a water balloon fight. The episode dives into why Scorsese’s gangster classic has become so deeply embedded in New York culture that you can quote half the movie without realizing you’re quoting it, from “Funny how?” to the fucking shinebox, while reminiscing about growing up with Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino, and Carlito’s Way playing in the background like required childhood programming. They talk about the Copacabana tracking shot, Lorraine Bracco, Joe Pesci, the movie’s perfect blend of comedy and brutality, and somehow also wander into Leonardo DiCaprio, Star Wars, Irish family history, County Mayo, and the general insanity of being a New Yorker with strong opinions about movies. But ultimately, the conversation comes back to why Goodfellas still hits: it’s funny, violent, stylish, filthy, quotable, and completely alive — one of those rare movies that stops being a movie and becomes part of the language.

Jack Finnigan joins us to talk about Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, because apparently watching a three-hour movie wasn’t enough—we also had to spend another 79 minutes arguing about it. We debate whether Nolan made a masterpiece or a very expensive excuse to yell about mythology, whether Matt Damon was actually the right guy to play Odysseus, why Anne Hathaway is basically the MVP, and why Tom Holland continues to exist despite our objections. We get into the Trojan horse, Hades, practical effects, PTSD, hubris, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, 70mm IMAX, and the deeply important question of whether a movie can be both spectacular and kind of emotionally empty. Jack brings the film-nerd perspective, Levi brings the skepticism, and everyone brings an unhealthy amount of confidence to conversations about ancient Greece that none of us were qualified to have. In the end, we agree the movie looks incredible, Hades rules, Nolan knows how to make an absolutely massive movie, and Matt Damon is… fine. So grab some popcorn, ignore the runtime, and join us as we attempt to decide whether The Odyssey is cinematic greatness or just three hours of Greek guys having the worst vacation imaginable.

The gang welcomes comedian Ray Zawaodni to defend his beloved 1989 masterpiece Road House, immediately igniting a blood feud over whether Patrick Swayze's Dalton is one of cinema's greatest action heroes or just a shirtless philosopher with incredible hair. What follows is an hour of lovingly overanalyzing bar fights, debating whether professional bouncers used to travel the country like touring rock bands, praising Sam Elliott's majestic mustache, and wondering if Bar Rescue secretly stole its entire premise from this movie. Along the way, they argue about Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dirty Dancing, prison one-liners, John Taffer, and whether "Pain Don't Hurt" belongs in the same quote hall of fame as Shakespeare. This week's You Pick the Movie kicks off with producer Cam choosing Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen, but the crew spends way more time proving they should never host a history podcast. What starts as a movie intro immediately spirals into forgetting actors' names, debating whether every Black British actor is secretly Stormzy, attempting wildly inaccurate British accents, recounting Cam's Bermuda vacation, and somehow ending up in ancient Mesopotamia while confidently trying to locate Babylon on a modern map. 

Between roasting Bermuda's resort food, bullying Talal, and collectively fact-checking each other's nonsense in real time, they eventually remember they're supposed to be talking about The Gentlemen—which, according to Cam, absolutely rules, even if the conversation itself is anything but gentlemanly.
