Roz Thornton, founder of the Amazing Women Global,  shared some light on how women empowerment and

development is the hallmark of any progressive society. Roz, a Leadership and

Confidence Coach, shared why she stared her business, saying it was because she

wanted to be with her Children more, and when they were at school she wanted to

have more flexible time with them and wanted to take the summers off and wanted

to take the school holidays off with them and she knew that wasn't possible due

to her work, but as things would happen Roz was made redundant and her dreams

magically came true. She said to start a business, or thinking of changing your

career, think about the career that you are in now and think about all the

elements that were really, really good that you always enjoyed and find

something similar that would fit into your personality and passion.

Roz decided to work with women to empower them and to

encourage them to do the job that they wanted to do and maybe even go for

higher jobs because she believed that women could achieve great things, all

that is need is the confidence to pursue their dreams.  She remarked that a lot of women do not go

for high paying jobs because they think they are not good enough or they are

not capable of doing some jobs. Emphatically, in Roz’s words, “ I'm here to

tell you today you are good enough and you can get that job because I have

helped hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of women who have never worked, I've

helped women who've had one year’s work experience and they're in their

forties, you know, I've helped women who you know that English is their second

language and they really struggle with English, they've got a very good job’.

According to Roz, the place of women in nation building

should never be overlooked because if you empower a woman, you empower the

community.

Engineer Yemi Ogundele, a production Engineer at the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency is our guest on the podcast today and he talked about the one secret surprise that can lead to successful breakthrough. He also mentioned that the community spirit that led people to help one another being together and caring for one another has since disappeared and talked us through how we can repair our communities and continue to be our brother’s keeper.

Engr Oluyemi, who served in different leadership capacities said the best gift an individual can give themselves is to be of help to someone else and share kindness, as much as possible. He said desperation is a key factor ruining human values, because the great value of patience has vanished amongst us, due to desperation.

Leadership he said, is about serving, but most leaders do not uphold this key attribute, hence, they find it hard to train others who would be able to lead when they leave their positions. He said when a leader is unable to be a role model and train others to take over from them, they hesitate to leave their position because they do not think ahead in order that they prepare effectively for their exit.

Our guest also shared how he got his reputable position at the United Nations, which was just by doing one act, he never thought would change is life, because he had always embodied this one trait that can lead to successful breakthrough for anyone who practices it.

When you truly aspire for something, you love, you must be ready to invest in yourself and invest in what you. Engineer Ogundele who made this remark also said that people should not say something is difficult without giving it a go, amongst other valuable nuggets shared in this podcast.

Believe in yourself and rescue yourself. All you need is to stretch out of your comfort zone to find the tools and resources you need.
